Hi I have PCOS also and I am getting my first fill Saturday the

21st. I am wondering the same thing, if it is going to be harder for

me to lose weight with the band than it is for most people.

PCOS is poly cystic ovary syndrome. Most women with PCOS are over

weight and it is very hard to lose weight and very easy to gain

weight. We Produce too much insulin and causes our body to store

store and store fat instead of giving us energy. I choose to get the

band because of my PCOS, I just couldn't lose it any other way. I

will keep you posted on how I doing. So for I Lost about 15LB after

my surgery and I have gained it all back except for 5LBs. I'm try

really hard to hold on to that 5 pounds that i have lost I've got 6

more days until my first fill. Its been very frustrating gaining

that weight back, but that is the fist time that i have every lost

weight so it was a great feeling to have that 15 pound off. I'll

keep you posted.

I don't personallly have PCOS but my friend does and that is why she got the band. She was engaged to an older man and had the wedding all planned. She found out that w/the band she maybe able to lose weight. Her parents paid for it, and she lost all her excess weight in about a 9 months. She started ovulating again!! She ended up getting un-engaged as he no longer wanted children and she really really wanted kids but didn't think she would be able to. She looks amazing and was my inspiration for getting the band!Best of luck in your decision. Cyrena WeeksDOB: 1/19/07 Anyone have PCOS with the Lap Band?

Hi Arlene,

I have been battling with PCOS for the past 14 years. I can

understand your concern about the ability to lose weight with this

disease. I have been through so many things to try to help with the

side effects of PCOS( obesity, facial hair growth, skin darkening,

etc.)I have been on many medicines and even had ovarian drilling.I

had been considering weight loss surgery for a long time but did not

know if it would work since PCOS is effected by endocrine and

harmonal issues. I finally decided I had to try it and Dr.A and

Mexico made it more affordable. I was banded on March 23rd. SO far I

have lost 22.5 pounds! I am very happy so far and encouraged that

this will work. Get your fill, keep a positive attutude, and I think

you will succeed!

>hi Jane actually yes metformin is for diabetes it controls insulin

levels because women with pcos produce to much insulin. And

metformin is one of the only pills(to my knowledge) that helps with

the symptoms of pcos. thanks katie
