Guest guest
I can't say for sure about the vitamins, even though the manual says " for life " but I am 4+ years postop and have just found out that my iron levels and B12 are low - and I have NOT been taking my vitamins. I think that makes my anemia " my fault " . We will see what diligence with the vitamins and extra B12 does in 3-6 months. I won't risk it again! in GA > > > Hi everyone, > > It's been a while since I've posted here. I lurk and read and have > followed everyone's posts with great interest. Guest guest
Teri, I just wanted to respond you your sinusitis issue. I had chronic sinisitis for about 10 years. One fall when I went to my Dr. for yet another round of antibiotics, I asked why I was constatncly getting sinus infections. He responded " it's probably allergies. " He said he could almost predict when I would be in, because I was always in within a 2 week period in the fall (in addition to other times, particularly spring). So I went to an allergist and was tested, and found that my biggest allergy was to ragweed (which blooms in the fall) plus mold, dust mites, and to a lesser extent, oak (I have a huge oak tree in my front yard and rake leaves all fall). Since taking allergy shots for about 1-1/2 years, I have had NO sinus infections, INFREQUENT colds, and with the exception of one last summer, those have been very mild. I have told this story to a number of folks suffering from chronic sinus infections who have also been diagnosed with allergies and gotten the problem resolved with allergy shots. I don't know why it takes the primary care/gp's so long to point out the connection, as chronic sinus infections are truly a living hell. Hope this helps you. in Atlanta 06/03/04 290/202 (was hoping to start 2005 at 200 or less...but was on vacation and out of town for the last 10 days) Hi everyone, It's been a while since I've posted here. I lurk and read and have followed everyone's posts with great interest. It has been a busy few months with work and other life stresses. I had my surgery Apr 8 04 and have lost about 110 lbs. to date. I am wearing a sz 14 and my health has improved dramatically in terms of diabetes, sleep apnea and blood pressure. I struggle with emotional eating from time to time but the mgb alteration makes controlling myself a whole lot easier. I have a question regarding general health. Since April, I have been on antibiotics a two or three times for sinusitus. Please don't misunderstand, I am not blaming the mgb for my sinuses! I used to get them chronically before also -- just not quite this frequently. Has anyone else experienced bacterial infections out of the usual? I take my vitamins most of the time (sometimes I forget). Are we to continue with 3 times the daily dosage of vitamins " forever " as clos says -- or is this something that we can cut the daily dosage of over time? I take a multi, calcium, flax oil and digestive enzymes. Maybe I should add some vitamin C? I eat very healthy, lean protein first, veggies next, some fruit and almost never eat potatoes or pasta because they fill me up so fast that nothing else fits in the pouch! (I will admit to some Christmas overindulgence, but hopefully that will GO AWAY soon!)
