Guest guest
Hi Flies...ahem...i meant friends! We have a fly zooming through our house this afternoon & that little winged critter reminded me of my friends here in . :-) Everything is going so well with these wonderful new floppy ears. The 2nd mapping has really made a difference in how I am now hearing. And I think the new " transmittors " with the stronger magnets have helped eliminate a lot of the " static " type of sounds I was hearing. I told my audiologist that the hum of air conditioning, rustle of paper, and noise of plastic was a bit overwhelming and speech was " muffled " . The audiologist made some adjustments to the maps of both processors and it is now much more relaxing to hear all this noise. Yipee! I am now wearing both processors in an unusual location as I type this. Both of my ears are starting to feel sore and I did not want to be without either processor...so I came up with the idea of tying a strip of fabric around my head & putting the earhooks over the fabric instead of my ears. It is working well! I hear and my ears are not aching. I now have plans to purchase some atheletic sweat headbands on my next trip to town. After meeting with the audiologist, I enjoyed a nice visit with the foxy Sharon Meyers & her younger sister. It was so good to see Sharon again & it was fun to hear Sharon's youngest sister's views about Sharon's CI. Dori (the wonderdog) also enjoyed being fussed over by everyone. :-) I am so glad you now have your " baby " back, Sharon! Did you have time to get new mappings for both CI's? This has been quite an incredible adventure into the world of hearing! To all of those who are not yet " turned-on " ...hang in there as it may all sound quite funny at first. The 2nd mapping really has made a wonderful difference in making some annoying sounds softer & speech a little clearer. I can't wait to see what the future holds...as I seem to hear better & better each HOUR! I am already hearing much more than I ever remember hearing with hearing aids for years & years. And lip-reading seems so much easier already as I can hear so much more speech. Wishing everyone a wonderful day! BunEWabbit bilateral med-el surgery 4-21-03 initial activation 5-19-03 p.s. Hey ! Do you think if one used a really high quality shower cap they could wear their CI in the shower and listen to music on a waterproof walkman? *wink* Yes...we sure would have it made if that was all we had to whine about! I hope everything goes well with you in your new job, . Happy Baking! And good luck keeping the flies off your yummy baked goods.
