I was diagnosed with a cholesteatoma in my left ear. I had knew something was in

my ear for years before the diagnoses was made. I finally got to the point of

being so dizzy it was hard to walk. I had the quick spins and the whole works.

When it was finally discovered I was fortunate to have a surgeon that could do

it in about " 2 hours " . Long story short he said that my cyst was about and inch

long and the size of your thumb. It had crushed the bones in my ear and it was

also wrapped around my facial nerve. It took about 2 years to be somewhat normal

and its still no where close to normal. Every 6 months or so my ear drum bust on

that side and I get the pus that runs out of my ear and if im asleep ends up in

a big puddle on my pillow.

Now I have one in my right ear (what fun) so the plan is to go into my left ear

and reshape the canal. I had wall-down procedure done before. we are going to

reopen the left ear and put some type of an artificial bone in there to hellp

increase the hearing. then a few months later we will open the right ear and

treat it " aggressively " (whatever that means) anyone else had them in both ears?

Yes my son has had both ears treated. His right ear may need reconstrction in future too but the left seems to have retained most of the hearing which is great. :)On 2 December 2010 06:49, matthewc <msclick1281@...> wrote:
