Helen never used to chew her food either - everything just went down whole!

She doesn't really chew very much now either, unless she's eating a

particularly sticky sweet.

I have just got some mouth exercises for her from our new Speech and Language

Therapist. One of them involves putting dabs of jam or chocolate spread

somewhere around the outside of her lips - she then tries to lick it off ...

can't wait to try it!

Eileen,

My boots are high heels! I do have to admit, I was so thrilled

with wearing them yesterday that I wore them again today and MY FEET

ARE KILLING ME!!! Oh my god! This fat woman has been wearing crocs

and tennis shoes for WAY Too long!! Whew! But, I have to say, I

hobbled with grace and pride! lol

Hi Eileen,

That's great ! They can pay for it than!!

I got mine done at a children's hospital, and I had to pay the entire amount

out of pocket. UGH!!!

The psychoeducational test will give you your child's IQ and let you know if

there is any learning disability, executive dysfunction, etc, etc. The

neuropsych my dd had involved the educational, occupational, social and

emotional aspects. The main reason I had this done for my dd was the fact she

was diagnosed with so many different disorders by different doctors. With the

neuropsch, it was a team approach, and they were able to diagnose her fully.I

also learned she had mild executive dysfunction. It was extremely helpful for me.

Hope this helps

thanks - I hate to put her thru 3-4 hours of testing when I just want

OT for sensory but I guess if it's makes them pay and be more

responsible I should do it- thanks so you don't think we need the nero

aspect if it's OCD and sensory issues?

Eileen,

It really depends on how much you feel your child needs. If you feel her

diagnosis is correct, I would just go for the educational and occupational

testing. It will save you time and frustration.

Hope this helps

Eileen,

Thanks for responding!

I will definitely be calling tomorrow morning. I know it's going to be a late

night!!!!

My daughter is so afraid she is going to have another panic attack, she already

told me she can't sleep. She takes clonidine for sleep, but it's not working

tonight. She's usually asleep by 8:30. It's 9:00 and she's totally wide awake.

Eileen, I don't know if she has PANDAS. She's not sick right now, but my son is,

and I think with strep.

I never tried the inositol or fish oil with my dd. That may be worth a shot

also.

I called the p-doc, and was told he would return my call this evening. UGHH!!!

how frustrating - he can't take a few minutes out earlier??!!! I would

go the natural route can't hurt - also weird that ds may have strep -

I think it would only make OCD worse but maybe it increases panic

attacks??? maYBE WORTH A THROAT CULTURE AND aso, dNASE TITER TESTs???

sorry about caps

Hi Eileen,

I'm bringing my son to the regular pediatrician tomorrow for a strep test, and

if it is positive I'll make an appointment for my daughter.

Her p-doc finally called at 6:30pm!!!!.He said he would raise her zoloft to

75mg. We'll have to see if that does anything.!!

I have been curious about the titer tests for my dd. Does that show on a strep

culture or separate bloodwork?

I'd bring dd anyway -she may have it and not him and no symptoms is

common from what I've read -you'll need to have the throat culture and

then 2 blood tests (done from one vial) for the ASO and Dnase tests

keep in mind you want the 24-48 hour culture not a quick one and my

dd's have nver shown in the throat so definately ask for the blood -

good luck - I hope things look up soon - and that maybe this strep

thing or omegas may be just what she needs instead of messing with

more meds
