Guest guest
Dori, you sound like you are experiencing the same things I did. Are you really thirsty, too. I found that sucking on ice cubes helped a lot. It is a bit colder now though so maybe not. I had one sliming experience and that was enough for me! I now chew everything very very very well and still crush all pills that I take. I used a paper cup to spit in--I felt like a wrestler trying to make weight--hehehe. Have hope--these first few weeks are definitely the worst and then things get better when you can have real soups and finally mushies. It took about 6 to 7 weeks for my swelling to go down and I finally had less restriction. Congratuloations on joining the " losing side " . Isn't it wonderful that we made this decision to change our lives? It is really almost a miracle! Best wishes to you and I really think you will have a great new year!! Merry Christmas to you and your family. Guest guest
Dear Dori, Wow, I hadn't thought about the numbers thing, but I'll get to do that too in just a couple days. It is comforting to me to have read an upbeat post from somebody who just got back since I am just about to go. I am having my surgery the day after tomorrow. Is sliming the same thing as PB'----spitting up like a baby does. I have been spitting up occasionally for a couple years...possibly related to a hiatal hernia I know I have and maybe to gastric reflux I know I have. How far did you have to drive yourself home afterwards. Mine is about a 3 hour drive and the plane does not get to Little Rock until 11pm. I am figuring on a motel that night but don't really know because I will want my own bed and my own bed-mate (a black mutt, named Suerta, I rescued from the garbage piles of the Dominican Republic 8 years ago). Merry Christmas to you and to all bandsters and wanna-be bandsters. (Wow, I'll switch from a wanna-be on Wednesday afternoon). Guest guest
Hi Dori, Let me know when you get a web page, I would love to read your progress! You can also start one at obesityhelp.com on your profile page. Oh, I am a compulsive weigher too so don't feel bad. But one thing I have noticed is the closer I get to my goal, the less compulsive I am. I guess because I am happy with the way I look now. You asked about Milk, you can start having it at 2 weeks post op right along with the milk based protein drinks. The Atkins shakes are milk based so be careful (good thing it didn't taste good!). Congrats on becoming a loser! I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be on the loser's side !!! Now, I am sooo ready to start my own web page to show my progress. I am keeping a detailed journal, maybe a little too detailed, but it's been fun. No more anxiety, curiosity, wonder, etc... I'm feeling stronger day-by-day.No one has told me how often I should NOT be getting on the scales, so I had to try them out - and GUESS WHAT ??? (I am bragging here - and proud of it!!!) My friend told me that she has found the 12 1/2 lbs that I've lost. I told her that she could keep them, I never really wanted them anyway. (giggles )Celia - you hit the nail on the head - I've got an 'itchy' tummy, too. And I have found myself looking at the kitchen and telling myself th! at there 's nothing there that I really want. (Not REALLY want !!!) This compulsive eating will be a lot easier to take care of than the smoking situation.... (We won't even go there, thank goodness this isn't a smoking cessation forum-help group.)I'm not tired of the broths - yet. It takes me 2 days to get through 2 cups of broth made from the packet inside the Ramen Noodles. (No, I'm not eating any of the noodles.) It seems to have more flavor and less fat or grease than canned broth, and it does have 2 grams of protein. The canned stuff and the boullion cubes have 0 proteins, and I'm real protective about the few hairs that I do still have on my head LOL... (I did go out and buy a wig, though. Everyone says it makes me look 10 years younger. Perhaps I should start coloring my hair?) And, I've learned that I do like water, after all. Note: What about milk? When can we start drinking it?I did think I wanted something sweet yesterday. So, I took about 2 teaspoons of Dr Adkins drink and diluted it with about 4 teaspoons of water. Well, I guess I won't be doing many sweets - I didn't like it !!! I did before banding, though....Dr Aceves repaired a hiatal hernia that I didn't know I had (No extra charge). But, it has caused me to learn what 'sliming' is - real quick.... It's gross.... But, I don't think it qualifies as throwing up - at least I hope not. I just start spitting ... I know - too much information... and it's gross... (Mental note: buy stock in the Kleenix Co, try paper towels.)This time, I get to put numbers after my name when I'm finished with this post !!!DoriSmilz DOB 12/12/05205, 192 1/2, 130 See That?
