Guest guest
Hi Camilla, I get the digest version of CI Hear, so please forgive me if my answer duplicates someone else's. My insurance also only covered 80% - but it ended up not costing me a dime! I think the way my doctor got around it was by scheduling me for outpatient surgery - my insurance covered 100% that way. I think that even if you end up staying in the hospital overnite, the insurance still pays 100% as long as outpatient surgery was scheduled. Of course, this was almost 14 years ago, so who knows how things have changed? Back then, my doctor was even willing to write off any part of his bill that my insurance didn't cover. I was only his 13 patient and I imagine he wanted more surgery under his belt! If you feel you can't afford the 20%, the idea someone had of paying small amounts monthly is a great. The benefit you would obtain would be worth it 1,000 times over! You might also want to check with Vocational Rehabiltation if you are working or planning on returning to work. My daughter also has a CI and VR paid for some of what her insurance wouldn't pay. Another thought is that your doctor's office or the insurance expert at your chosen CI company may be able to help you with more ideas. Keep us posted! Best wishes and good luck!
