Guest guest
Hi , is doing a good job letting you know what he hears. It seems that he may have tinnitus, and to some people, it probably can sound like something blowing up. My tinnitus has sometimes made a slight popping type of noise, rumbling, or a horn type of sound. It's not scary once you're used to it, and in my case, it's a muted noise that is masked by my CI. It sounds like if has tinnitus, it is masked by his CI when it's turned on. Whew. Does the tinnitus make feel afraid? Is it loud? If it does, encourage him to talk about it and talk about how he can cope when his CI processor is not on. There may be things he can do to avoid becoming overstimulated during the day, which can sometimes cause it. Tell a lot of us live with this tinnitus bother and for some of us, it's loud and for others, it's soft. It can be a bugger, but fortunately, the CI can make it go away!!
