Gayle,

Exactly! In my 18 years of wearing hearing aids, I've worked with a grand

total of 3 audis. Two of them were wonderful to work with. The third one was

not. Oh well! As the old Meat Loaf song says, " Two out of three ain't bad. "

LOL!

I forgot to include my question. <blush> Once I have my implant, is it

likely that my CI audi will be able to address my CI *and* hearing aid

needs? For convenience sake, I'd much rather see one audiologist instead of

two. :)

....I don't see why one audiologist couldn't handle both

devices. Just make certain that the audiologist is trained to work

with your CI as that would require further education beyond working

with hearing aids, etc. I'm getting so excited for you! I do like

your theory that listening with both devices would be the faster way

to relearn sounds. There may be a scientific reason to say that's

wrong thinking, but why learn to hear with a hearing aid, drop that

and then learn again with the CI, then a 3rd time to combine the

two? Seems to me it would be more time effective to work with them

together. I'm not sure but maybe you're breaking new ground here. I

say go for it and my fingers are crossed that you get an approval

from your insurance today!!

Hi ,

It would very be surprising that the same audie would not be able to deal

with your two aids, thought these aids will be different. For my part the

problem will not happen cause I am bilateral. Good luck to you in your

journey to sound.

Lee,

Meat Loaf was a music band from the 70's. He (or should I say the group)

released several albums including one that topped the charts in 1977-1978 --

" Bat Out of Hell. "

, I think you mentioned your CI center is a larger one. If so,

it's more than likely they also deal with hearing aids, and very

well at that. I know my CI center does, as it is a very large

university ENT center. They probably have close to 7-8 audi's at any

given time, many/most trained in both CI and HA.

I agree wholeheartedly with you about a CI and HA together. I did

that until I lost what hearing I had in the HA ear. The CI and HA

together for me formed a great synergy. That's me...it's not

everyone. Your surgeon/audi will have their own opinions as to

wearing a HA with a CI based on your hearing history overall.

Now, on the lighter side...we gotta do something about you and

, LOL! Who works for an airline and can arrange comp tix for

one or the other to make a visit? The dogs too! Who knows...they

might hit it off also!
