Guest guest
Kim: The weight loss amount and length of time is different for everyone. I am 18 months out and haven't lost but a pound or two since I hit 10 months out. It pretty much totally stopped after ten months. I exercise normally 5-6 days per week...when I don't have any broken bones...that's another thing...I broke both ankles in the last six months....I'm having a bone density check on Tuesday. I hope all goes well for you. Kathy G./Atlanta 6-26-03 230/146 (Lower Bodylift scheduled for 1-3-05)
Guest guest
kim at 113 i think i would not care if i was drinking water from a mud puddle! i say go to a health food store and get some weight gain stuff (WHATEVER it tastes like) and eat energy/protein bars all day long! once you are healthier- then you can go on a quest for " taste " -- get the infusions and do what you need to do. just my opinion....but it seems better than hoping for a tasty solution or getting a reversal! like i said my OPINION if you decide that another surgery is preferable, then that is your decision-- we all do what we can stand to do. be well and i hope you feel better soon... i hear infusions work like a charm so maybe you will perk up real soon keep us posted! xoxoxo cathy s in va > > I had my one year follow-up with Dr. Hargroder last week. Guest guest
You will be a new woman after the iron infusion. I went from an iron store number of 5 (should be 50-60) to 100 and feel SO much better. Within 24 hours I knew it was worth it. Hope it works for you. Good luck holding your weight. I have no ideas about that. V Can't Stop Losing I had my one year follow-up with Dr. Hargroder last week. My blood work was not so good. I will be starting iron infusions because I'm severly anemic. Other numbers were pretty good. The concern is that I weigh 113 pounds and I'm just a year out. I would love to hear from anyone from CLOS or another MGB patient about how to gain or at least maintain the weight. Any good high protein high calorie drinks that tast decent enough to consume daily? I don't want to have a revision. Dr. H isn't too worried about me losing too much more but I keep reading about people who are losing weight at 18 months or even longer. Both of my doctors seem to think I will fee so much better after the iron infusions. Right now I'm lethargic and have no energy. Kim
Guest guest
Kim, I do think that you will feel a lot better after the iron infusions. If you are concerned regarding losing anymore weight, like I was also, start eating more often. Try to eat as much as you can in between your regular meals. I talked with one of the nurses at CLOS about this and she said the same thing. I am almost two years out, January, and I have been maintaining now for approximately 11 months. I did not want to lose anymore and therefore started eating what I wanted. Of course, I would still be smart in what I consumed and now have to monitor my weight closely. If I put a few on, I will watch what I eat for a couple of days. I think the main thing is to eat what you have been eating, just more often.
