Guest guest
Hi Janet, ACE seems to be the default choice for first mappings. Then if you aren't doing well with that, the audiologist will try SPEAK and CIS. In no particular order. ACE combines the best features of both SPEAK and CIS, so it's the one favored for a started. It uses the best features of SPEAK by using a dynamic roving selection of 22 separate channels of stimlation and the superior pitch resolution and of CIS in providing the opportunity of higher rates of stimulation and better timing representation. So, most everyone starts with that these days. It can be adjusted to suit you, too. And if it's not a good strategy for you, there is always CIS and SPEAK to try. Nice thing about the Nucleus is you have a choice of 3 strategies and all the variations within each strategy. Do you get a program of each (Ace, Speak, CIS) or do they go in a particular order? Hope that makes sense - it is past my bedtime!
