Guest guest
I was told that there was a long waiting period to get a catscan at Kaiser Permanente. They projected a possible date Aug.24th. GUESS WHAT??? On Sunday, Kaiser called and got me in on Aug.4th!!! Am I supposed to get a MRI as well?? Kaiser did not mention anything about it, I wonder why. At this rate, can anyone tell me how long before I can expect an implant surgery.THANKS, Moses Katz

Guest guest
We had a ct scan with contrast done in November and it came back negative. Madelyn was injected with the radioactive dye and we walked around the hospital for 2.5 hours. We then came back and they performed the scan. They used a suppository med which made her fall asleep and she was under the machine for approx. 45 minutes. We were allowed to sit with her and watch. When she woke they observed her for about 1/2 hour and we went home. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Guest guest
This is completely in my personal opinion - but if the symptoms your daughter is experiencing are simply those standard for , I would not do a Catscan. However, if they have some serious concerns and can articulate what they are trying to rule out --- that might be a different story. A catscan with contrast is nothing that is standard testing procedure for (from what I have read over the past year and a half). We did not do genetic testing, but did walk through history, backgrounds of family members, testing for rheumatoid issues, Hyper IGD (HIDS), and Inflammatory diseases (potentially ruled out a few other diseases) via blood testing. After that we tracked for 6-12 months and tried cimetidine for 4 months. We ended up with a T & A in December, and she has been fever free since 11/16/08 (123 days - but who's counting!!!). I would preserve invasive testing for when the doctor can truly articulate " WHY " they are doing it. If they are simply running tests to find a needle in a haystack - it doesn't outweigh the risk. If I were to put my child under anesthesia, why not try a T & A instead - since that is one of the riskiest pieces of the T & A. Ginger Daughter - le, 2.5 years old (fevering since 7 months, diagnosed at 15 months, T & A on 12/11/07, Fever free since 11/16/07) Son - Jay, 10 months old
