cheaper because all the pre testing was done he agreed the only

thing i had was the presurgery physical which was even less than the first time

Yes, I had to go through the hearing tests for my second sequential implant

but not another CAT or MRI!

Thank goodness you did not have to have CAT for 2nd CI. When I had CAT for

1st CI my head was suspended in mid air in awkward position with no support.

With not being able to see and hear I suddenly became terrified and started

screaming, so unlike me. They then had the assistant hold my hand while she

wore some armored robe.

Lois,

You only had a year between. I have 4. I would not be surprised

if my surgeon wants CAT and MRI again. No big deal, just need to get

this done and approved.

,

I doubt that you will have an MRI but expect that you will have a CT Scan.

I had to have the catscan done again and all that. Not the mri since my other

implant would not tolerate the mri.

I had a few tests but not many. Just a few.

They already knew I was deaf.

and Gimlet of course-- Yes I had to go through the evaluation process for

my 2nd CI. I had been wearing my hearing aid for 6 months with the first CI.

They had to show that I was getting minimal to no benefit with the hearing aid

in the unimplanted ear ( my speech discrimination scores dropped to 0% from I

believe around 24% from 8 months previously.) and with the CI and HA together my

speech discrimination was only 16%. It was explained to me that 2 different

sound systems was confusing my brain too much. The CI alone I forgot what the

speech discrimination but I do recall that my sentences score was only 40% at 6

months so that pretty much qualified me for the 2nd one easily. I could have

been simultaneously implanted but my surgeon at that time and still does not do

them together. He prefers you wait 6 months apart if you qualify. Hope that

helps you

Well, I suppose I will just do whatever it takes. I've an appt on

the 13th, will meet with my audie. If he says anything I dont want to

hear, I will just go deaf on him. Think that will work?
