Guest guest Posted November 14, 2004 Report Share Posted November 14, 2004 , I tired to screwing my maget closer in, and somehow, it did work to keep on, but it is not that closer to make the noise more clear, because the current maget is more lighter to hold and the noise is more ligher and soft than it was used to be, and when I push the maget hard, the noise resume to normal and strong sounds. I hope you understand what I meant. Just wondering Hey guys, I haven't posted for so long time,because I have been so busy with school, home, etc. I wanted to post a e-mail ask if anybody have any maget size 4 or 5, sliver for my N22 ESPrit 3G, because I would like to have one free if you have one just sitting around and don't use it anymore and would like to give away to someone who would like to have it. I wanted to ask because my size 3 maget si still falling, and i am planning to grow my hair to curly hair in boys style, so I wanted to ask if anybody have one that would like to give away. If you all don't have any to give away, I understand, no big deals. I will just buy from Cochlear, but I wanted to ask first to save some money. Thanks a lot! Here is the message I got: I am having trouble with my magnet. I have very thick hair, and I wear it shoulder length. I have a level 6 magnet in it now (they had to special order it from Nucleus), and it stays put, but ... I have trouble with the magnet (and of course my whole ESPrit 3G) getting pulled to attach to other things. I know this has probably happened to everyone at least once, but it is really common with me. I am thinking that because the magnet is so strong, my head doesn't even have to be that close before BOING - there it goes! My worst is putting my 3 year old in and out of her car seat. If the Exporer door is too close - BOING! I also have problems with my metal bifold closet doors when I reach down for my shoes, or am searching in my daughters closets for things. I know I could change the closet doors to wood, but any other thoughts? I mainly want to know if others have as much trouble with this as me. I really had trouble when I was first " turned on " to get the magnet to stay on under my heavy thick hair, so shaving my head where the implant connects would not allow me to use a lower numbered magnet. For those of you who don't know, the " normal " strenth of magnet is a 2 - I am up to a 6! I told my husband I may just have to chop my hair (he has always loved it long), and get a real short hairdo!! With my luck, I would still need the number 6, and hate how I look to boot! What do you think about this? Let me know, because I would like to know your opinions. You also were using a 2 for a long time and you don't want the magnet to be too strong because that is not good for you either. I think you need to contact your audiologist since this is a big change. The person on the Nucleus Forum may be a new implantee but you aren't. Yours is the N22. Please try to call your audiologist tomorrow. In the case of this user, she may have success by shaving a tiny spot, about the size of a pea up under all that thick hair to get a better connection. She doesn't need to change her hair style. It would be good to know how long she's had her implant. Some surgeons leave a thicker skin flap than others.
