Guest guest
My band and I have been together for a little over a year now and we get along pretty well most of the time...well, as long as I do things HER way, we get along just fine! She can be picky, though! (But gosh, I gotta love her!) List of things I cannot eat: Eggs Eggs Eggs Eggs Eggs Bread or bread like products (cake, flour tortillias, etc.) Very few meats (more of a personal choice) Applesauce (go figure this one out!!!) Very few potato products Did I mention EGGS????? Things I can eat: Salad Most vegetables Popcorn Potato Chips Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Ice Cream Most casseroles Nuts (chewed very well) Soups I have very few problems with my band. You will learn what your band will and will not tolerate. I remember Dr. Aceves telling me that salads and Mexican foods would be difficult for me to eat but I can eat both of those without a problem. Now, with Mexican food, I have to fool my band. See, I can eat chips, salsa, lettuce, tomatoe, cheese, sour cream, and so forth on anything but, for goodness sake, do NOT put them together on a taco or my band will scream!!! I can NOT eat a taco! Strange, huh??? It may sound like alot of no-nos when you look at a list but you learn to eat with your band and what your band allows becomes your comfort foods. One or two times of getting non-tolerable foods stuck is enough to change your appetite real quick!!! There are enough foods available for me to eat and be happy. The one that seems always said is bread. I have also heard lettuce, any kind of salad, beans, pasta. I would like to hear what foods you know or found out that do not work well with the band. Thanks!NadineDOB 3/24/07362(357)346/329/??? - haven't decided yet It's here! Guest guest
Bread is the only thing I have trouble with, I even tried whole wheat and couldn't eat that...Pasta goes down ok for me... nrhwork <nadine4@...> wrote: Hi fellow bandsters,I have heard varying comments on what you can and cannot eat once you are banded. Guest guest
Thanks for the post. I am always interested in what others say about food restrictions....I guess because I hate to throw up! Guest guest
Hi Nadine I guess I had my unfill in Mexicali the evening you had your band put in. I kinda looked for some new bandsters but it was pretty late and most everyone was sleeping--except from Seattle who had her band put in on that Thursday with her husband. I guess he had to stay a few days longer so she was staying with him. We did have a nice chat before we left. Since my unfill I have been able to eat anything--no problem. There are some things I don't think I'll ever try again because they just didn't work from the start but who knows someday I may get gutsy and even give eggs another try but NOT YET!!!!!! Applesauce, eggs, soda pop, and most fruits are on my no no list. Anyway the REAL no no list that my fill Dr. and Dr. Aceves give us says no sweets like cake, candy, pie, etc. and no " drippy " food like yogurt, ice cream, cream soups, etc. These all seem to go down great but if you want to lose weight they really need to be cut out for awhile! Just way too many calories and no staying power. The last foods I mentioned are ones you do need to eat at about week 3 or 4 until you are healed but after that you need to eat the bandster way if you want success. Sorry I missed you but you probably weren't feeling the greatest at that time' Best wishes on your weight loss journey!
