Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Just thought I'd share part of my day today. I had an eye doctor's appointment this morning to check the pressure in my eyes. Yes, things look very fuzzy right now. 8-) Usually my eye doctor asks me if I have any questions before he dictates a report of my appointment to my primary care physician. Today he just went right onto the dictation while facing me. So, I eavesdropped. He was really surprised when I let out a loud, " WHEW! " when he was done. He said, " What? " I said, " One of the questions I was going to ask you today was if you expected the glaucoma to progress and at the end of the dictation I heard you say that you don't expect the glaucoma to progress. He just stood there smiling away and said to his assistant, " This girl has come a long way since getting her CI! She can now understand my dictations and her speech has really improved since I first met her. " He looked at me and said, " You are doing fantastic with the implant. How do you like it? " That was obvious! He already knew the answer! I told him how nervous I get coming for my 4 month pressure checks. I know what it's like to totally lose one sense and grow up with only half of another sense (vision) and so my worst fear, before my CI, was losing the rest of my vision. I said now that I have my CI and can understand most things with it, it gives me peace of mind whatever might happen in the future. But, the news, today, that the glaucoma is not expected to progress and that he will keep a check on it every 4 months was a real peace of mind. Whewwwwwwwwwwwwww!! 8-) Have a great weekend everyone! Guest guest
Wow Patti. This was great news. I'm glad the doctor's appointment went well but even more glad that you are not losing more sight to glaucoma. I deal with those issues too so I am sure I understand how this appointment felt. It's nice to hear the doctor say those glowing words about you, isn't it? <smile> Congratulations and thanks for sharing! Alice
