Guest guest
Yup, it's Advance Bionics. Does Med-El uses positioner? Regards/ Jerome Spacer in electrodes? Hi there, Does anyone know what is a 'spacer' in the electrode? I read in some forum that the spacer thing increases the risk of meningitis... Guest guest
I would put the spacers closest to his head and the magnets furthest away so the magnets would be on the outside wall of the headpiece and the spacers would be on the inside. You'll have to think this out but I believe the magnets should go in first and then you'd put in the spacers but someone else who wears the Auria should be able to clarify this for us. Those little magnets are hard to control, that's why I love the screw in magnet on my 3G. The moleskin is a good idea for a temporary fix as you can double it on the head piece if necessary and you don't have to follow the magnets all over the place when they jump together. I remember hating that when I got the first headpiece for the 3G and I was really happy when we went back to the screw in magnet. I could not find a setting with the spacers that didn't cause me problems and had to use the moleskin all the time. These pieces of moleskin are what people use to cover corns and bunions so there is a sticky side which adheres to the headpiece and won't hurt it a bit. If you can't get the magnet strength down by working with the magnets and spacers, make it easy on yourselves and head to the store for the moleskin as a temporary fix and then call the audiologist on Tuesday who won't want his magnet too tight. Alice Re: good morning!!! ok, i will make sure he tries the little round 'spacers'. where do i put it? i dont see anything in his book or video about that? > > <he finds it, then he takes it away a bit > and lets it catch on his head where it wants to be!> > > That's too strong. You don't want them to do this. It's hard to regulate the headpieces with the magnets and spacers but if he continues to have a problem with this, you can buy moleskin (go to Walmart and in the Foot Care area you'll find this " and cut off just enough to stick on the headpiece so that it softens some of the strength between his head and the internal magnet. Having the magnet too strong can cause the skin flap to have problems which you don't want. > > Alice
Guest guest
i will do. and i got a kick out of you mentioning moleskin the first time, as i've encountered so many who dont have a clue about that wonder! it was one of my favorite things as a kid to put on especially when breaking in those horrible oxfords for school! wonderful tip for the headpiece!!! thanks so much, smile, m > > > > <he finds it, then he takes it away a bit > > and lets it catch on his head where it wants to be!> > > > > That's too strong. Guest guest
For a quick fix to avoid problems - if you can't get the spacers or the moleskin to take care of the problem, go to a wig store and get wig tape. It will hold the headpiece on and you can store the magnets and spacers away in a safe place until you see the audiologist. Alice
Guest guest
so far he's using his ear worn today around the house. it's magnet is much weaker, and he does need the one extra on the outside. i looked at his skin before he put it on and he looks ok so far. looks like the night time break when he's sleeping lets his skin go back to normal. i'll check it again in about an hour and if it's too strong, i'll put a spacer on there. when we go out later he'll probably use his body worn, and we'll have to play around with it until it's strong enough to hold, but not too much. > For a quick fix to avoid problems - if you can't get the spacers or the moleskin to take care of the problem, go to a wig store and get wig tape.
