Could anyone suggest what I can take or use for acontinual sore throat and an itchy mouth.Peta

Hi Peta,

Here is what I do, and it works every time - not just for me, but for everyone I have recommended this to.

I take two drops of Tea Tree EO, and two drops of Eucalyptus EO, and put it on a spoon. I turn it over, and drop it on the back of the tongue. When mixed with saliva, it forms a "juice" of sorts, that is both antibacterial and antiviral. You swish it around, and then gargle with the juice, before swallowing it. Most people feel results within several hours.

It probably matters which brand of oils you are using, because some of them have additives and are not pure. I use the ones from Forever Young, because they are formulated by two of the experts on essential oils, Dr. Penoel, and Dana Clay Young. You can find them at www.myForeverGreen.org/134153.

They also have what I call "culinary EOs", that are the EOs of the plant, that have been extracted and made water soluable, so that they are instantly bioavailable in the body. It is a great way to get stuff like garlic, curcumin, and capsaicin in a real EO form, that is ingestable. I use them with cancer clients, and these are great. They also make basil, thyme, sage, rosemary, onion, lemongrass, ginger, oregano, cinnamon, etc in this form. I threw out all of my dried herbs, (which probably had no nutritional or medicinal value), and use these. You only need a toothpick sized drop, because they are so strong.

I hope this helps. Even though I am a wholistic consultant, there is enough of the RN left in me that was amazed that the Tea Tree and Eucalyptus worked, but it does - every time.

Barb,

With the Eucalyptus which species should I use and for

how long and how many times during the day I should do

this. Is there any contraindication I need to know

about before using these oils (I am on medication and

have other conditions) and would this help with the

itchy mouth?

This certainly seems like some sort of intolerance or allergy. The hard part is to find out what is the causative agent; I think you need to find a Naturopath to help you with this one. (unless you start with a short fast and try different foods, one at a time to see which one is causing this). There is also a herb called Baical Skullcap which is particularly good for mystery allergies such as this. Omega three Essential Fatty Acids can also help. You could keep a Diet Diary and write down everything you eat. Note when the itching is most troublesome and see if you can track it down to a food or drink. Do you sleep on your back, Peta? So that maybe your mouth is open during

your sleep?

Also, could it be thrush, which is a type of yeast?

Hi Peta,

The one I am using is Eucalyptus Radiata, and it comes from the site I gave you, www.myforevergreen.org/134153. I am not aware of any contraindications, except that the oils have to be 100% pure, with no additives. That is why it is important, with EOs, not to just run to the drug store. Because the combination is antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial, I would guess that it would help an itchy mouth.

I just keep these oils on hand all of the time, so whenever there is an indication that something might be going on, they are handy. My medicine chest does not have meds in it, it has a full complement of EOs. I am amazed at some of the things I have helped with the different oils (and other natural things). I have used the different oils to help people with everything from scabies to boils and fungal infections.

Peta, this sounds like a chronic allergy

to me. You need to find what is causing it. Nettle is my favorite solution to

this type of allergy, but in your case you need to take a hard look at the

pharmaceuticals you are taking and make sure it isn’t one of these that

is causing the problem. Another possibility that comes to mind is thrush, which

is an overgrowth of yeast. If you see any patchy whiteness on your tongue,

throat, and mouth this could be the culprit. When you find out the cause of the

problem let us know then we can help you more fully with correcting it.

GREAT advice Barb! I have done similar things with tea tree and

Purification but haven't tried it with eucalyptus... I will though. I

am a Young Living distributor also and don't know how I ever made it

before I found out about their oils. I use them for everything

everyday. I love a teeny little drop of Lemon or Grapefruit in my

bottled water... yum!

Peta,

Could it be dry air in your home? Maybe you are sleeping with your

mouth open and drying your throat out? Maybe using one of those snore

strips or a bit of eucalyptus eo under your nose would help - you would

be much less likely to snore then.

Just an idea...

Mouse,

Our place is quite cold as it is solid brick and the

only place we can afford heating is in the lounge

room. It gets really cold at night and we do not have

any insulation in the roof so we look forward to going

to bed with the electric blanket to keep the bed warm.

I don't leave it on while I sleep. I do drink a lot

of water during the night as I do wake up with my

mouth dry and am quite thirsty, but my partner says I

don't snore, but I am sure am a mouth breather and

have been most of my like because of sinus problems.

I have tried the natural remedy version of vapour rub

but that only works for a little while and as my nose

gets sore from continual blowing anything like

eucalyptus would be a bit burning because of the

camphor content. Thank you for your advice.

Hi Barb,

Thank you for your help and knowledge, I may try this

out as the itchiness is getting worse. I do do a

vitamin C wash (mixed up powdered vitamin c and swish

it around and drink it) and it seems to help for a

little while but then comes back.

Hi Sharyn,

No I sleep on my side, cant sleep on my back as my

spine is a little too curved and it gets

uncomfortable. I am not a stomach sleeper either. I

have never suffered from thrush or yeast problems and

I eat yoghurt (Viaala, Jalna) very regularly, if I

don't eat the yoghurt I drink the youghurt drinks.

Hi Suzie,

I don't have any raised bumps or lumps in the mouth or

throat. I will keep a diet diary for a week and get

back to you all and see if there maybe a culprit there

as that would make sense. I can't really afford a

naturopath at the moment as I am saving up for a

washing machine (ours broke down a month ago) and to

get two of my teeth filled as I have been in chronic

pain with them on and off through the day) and find

that they are priority but I will do the diary thing.

Let you know when I have done with it and what I came

up with.

Peta have you tried flushing your sinuses with warm salt water? Use 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water. Suck this up your nose then blow it out. It does not hurt, and it can really clean out sinus infections, etc.

I immediately found a known interaction

between the Yasmin and Vitamin C, so you need to make a decision there. The

Eutroxsig is contraindicated with Yasmin and Ibuprofen, and also seems the most

likely of possible drug allergens. Since you said this isn’t the first

year you have had this, I am really thinking seasonal allergies. If you haven’t

already, try some nettle tea every day. It may take a week or so to kick in

because its best to take it before the onset of allergy symptoms, but it will

work. I would really urge you to think about and research natural alternatives

to some of your meds as well, which I am sure you have been or you wouldn’t

be on this list. Hope this information helps you.

I am seeking alternatives but had to take the Yasmin

as I was becoming too anaemic with the heavy periods

so the Doctor had to put me on that and have had

normal periods for the first time in 15 years, which

vitex, dong quai and evening primrose could not sort

out. I surprised that the Yasmin and Eutroxsig is

contraindicated with each other, so why did the Doctor

prescribe this? My thyroid levels had been low

because I am not a " salt " person, so anything that is

" salty " I tend not to have (that includes kelp

productions) so my iodine levels most probably were

low, this had taken 15 years to get as low as it was

as about 13 years ago a chinese doctor told me that I

was low thyroid but he could not treat me as it was

not below the scale (he was also an allopathic doctor

too). I nmight check out the meds further too as if

this is the case I will have to dig further to treat

my " conditions " and experiment on what happens when I

get of the meds.

Thanks for your help.

I have tried Fess Spray and all it did was run down

the back of my throat, I suppose I could try this and

see how it goes.
