Hi everyone. I'm still alive!

I am now two months post op, and have lost 33 pounds. I was hoping to have

lost more by now, but I guess this is a reasonable amount. I have

discovered that I can not tolerate even tiny amounts of bread or rice,

which is sad for me, because I love these things more than just about

anything in the world!

I do tolerate every kind of meat I've tried (pork, beef, sheep, goat,

crocodile, chicken) but I find that seafood goes down the easiest of

anything. Fortunately, my partner owns a fish farm, so I have an unlimited

supply of tilapia.

I still have to chew more than I had imagined I would. I have had a few

vomiting episodes that I think were the result of consuming rice or not

chewing well enough. I don't think I have had dumping. I even tried eating

a few bites of cake at a party the other day and nothing happened. This

isn't a danger for me though, as sweets just aren't my thing. I have also

tried drinking a little alcohol, but I just don't like it any more. How

weird is that?

The bad things I'm doing are:

Not drinking enough water. It's so hard now, because I can only drink a

very little at a time without feeling sick, so I have to be sipping

virtually all the time.

Not getting enough protein. Finding sources of powdered protein here in

Jamaica is not easy, so I am having some trouble there.

Wanting to drink with meals. This is sooooooo hard for me! We eat highly

seasoned, highly spicy food here at every meal, so it's very strange not to

drink during or right after meals.

I'm almost never hungry, and I don't experience hunger the same way I did

before. Now I know I'm hungry because I get irritable.

I'm very lonely with my surgery here, but I feel pretty good!
