Guest guest
Hello Everyone: I was banded on June 9th and I am curious; I have had to miss a meal on a couple of days and I find that the hunger pains are very mild compared to when I was not banded. I know the band will make us feel full quickly, but what makes the hunger pains so much less uncomfortable than prior to the band? I know I shouldn't miss a meal but I sometimes find myself in a situation that won't allow me to eat, and if I am to late I will wait for my next meal. Is the hunger pain thing the same for most people or am I just lucky? Continued success to all! Ken Banded 06/09/06 365/360/327/

Guest guest
Carly, you need to get the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile done to see where your levels of cortisol and DHEA lie at four specific times during the day. Go to our FILES SECTION accessible from the here thyroid treatment and click FILES in the Menu on the Home Page. On the page that opens, click 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and on that page, click 'Genova Diagnostics'. Follow the instructions for ordering to get your TPA discount. The kit they will send you is four little test tubes and four straws. You place the end of one straw in your mouth and the other in a test tube and you proceed to spit down the straw and fill the little tube. You do this at 8.00a.m., 12 noon - 4.00p.m. and again at midnight. This is NOT something you can 'second guess' - you NEED to get your adrenals tested, even if you think it might not be. Once they send you the result, post them here on the forum together with the reference range and we will help with their interpretation. Your symptoms sound very much related to low adrenal reserve. Also, ask your GP to check your levels of iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Check out the attached document to send to your GP should he try to tell you that there is no connection between low thyroid and low levels of these specific supplements. When you had your last blood test, had you taken your thyroid meds. on the morning of the blood draw. If so, this would give a false reading. Never take thyroid hormone on the morning you go for a test. Take it as soon as you have had the test done. Luv - Sheila I know my levels arnt right - im just trying to get on a level which I can keep stable whilst I sort other stuff out. Its driving me mad. Does anyone else get these hunger pains - more in chest really but eating soothes it even though I cant really be hungry. Its not terrible just annoying and reminds me soemthign is wrong. Am I right in thining this is low thyroid? Or is it perhaps from toxicity or anything else related to thryoid meds? _,_._,___
Guest guest
Thanks shelia adrenal Are the currently the best they've ever been , they were very low all day but now high in morn and relatively low all day - but tons better. This is why I know it's not this and more thyroid related directly.. Dhea again slightly better altho still low so may start taking this. No didn't takes meds before bloods. Just interested in other people have this and if it's low thyroid or toxic in blood? Guest guest
Carly, read the message in the link here http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic10269.html to a support forum where you will see a number of others suffering exactly the same symptoms as you. Perhaps these might help you find an answer. Also, another cause for your hunger pain might be that you are suffering with a peptic ulcer. This causes pain in the epigastric region (a small area between the breastbone and belly-button). The pain is often described as a “hunger pain” or a continuous gnawing or burning sensation. Sometimes it is felt during sleep and may be strong enough to awaken the patient in the middle of the night. The pain can vary in intensity throughout the day or night, while pain-free periods can last for days to months or even years. I know this because I suffered with a duodenal ulcer and absolutely craved food (usually boiled ham for some reason) and felt that by eating it there and then, it would get rid of the pain.
