Guest guest
, I am not s skier but did try it once years ago. I'd do it in a heartbeat too. I think ordinary precautions would work well for the CI. A ski mask or some such to keep the processor on your head would probably be sufficient. And yes you can plug in an FM system and give the guide the transmitter. That would minimize the wind noise as I am sure you'd turn into a speed demon on the slopes. Guest guest
When I ski I wear a ski helmet. I do not want to risk damage to the CI. It's been too long a journey to take a risk. I had to try a few helmets before I found one that fit reasonably comfortable. A few adjusts made to the foam allowed room for the 3G. My Husband was able to do this for me. But my ski shop said they were willing to try to fit the helmet using methods they use to fit ski boots(heat and stretch). I went skiing with my Audie after having surgery and she flipping out because I wasn't wearing head gear. Funny thing that night she's the one who snowball. Not me, I've been skiing since I was a kid :-). But the next day I purchased a helmet. It's much warmer than a hat and you don't have to keep pulling it down on your head. Living in upstate NY we have access to some wonderful ski slopes. Looking forward to this years ski season Dee _____ From: [mailto:rlclark77@...] Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2004 6:12 PM Subject: Re: Downhill Skiing with CI , I am not s skier but did try it once years ago. Guest guest
, When I come to Portland, do you want to go downhill skiing? I think we'd have lots of fun! Heck, we could even get Gimlet and Tigger on a pair of skis -- perhaps even using them to guide us down the hill!! LOL! Guest guest
Dee, I'm glad you mentioned the idea of wearing a helmet. I, too, would feel more comfortable doing this. In the past, I wore a ski hat which was loose enough to fit over my hearing aids. When the time comes, I'll visit a sports shop in my area to find out what kind of helmet I can find. I'm also glad to know that my FM system can be used with the 3G. I think I'm going to give this a try this winter and see what happens! Guest guest
In case some of you were wondering who " " is, she was someone from another CI forum. For whatever reason, I thought her question was posted on this list. Hence, the reference to her name. <grin> , do you have a humorous and clever response to this message? If so, I can't wait to read it. LOL! Surgery date: 12/22/04 Activation date: 1/18/
