Guest guest
Hi all. This is . I'm back at work and wanted to check in with everybody. The experience for me as a whole, was great. I can't say enough about Nina, Yolando, Dr. Aceves and all the crew over there. And to my band mates, Carol, Sherri and Mike, and their traveling companions, I couldn't have asked for better support. I miss you guys. I have to say for anybody thinking about getting the band, that when I was in recovery, my first thought, was Oh hell no. I was hurting, no doubt. But, come the next morning that thought passed and I was on my way. So just be prepared for that brief period where you think you've really messed up and done something stupid. I'm feeling good and getting along great. I've made some choices this week that I would like feed back on from any and all. I can't stand the clear liquid protein so I'm not drinking it. How stupid is this decision? It just sucks. I am sticking to clear broth, jello, juice, water and popsicles. Ok, I did have a spoon full of vanilla ice cream on day 6. I had no problem with it but I was freaking out about it. Wont do that again till I'm supposed to. I have gotten a little creative on the broth. A couple times now I have gotten a cup o noodles and ate that broth. Had no problems with it. It's kind of a treat. My concern is that I've only lost 7 lbs and I actually gained a half pound this morning. Is the lack of protein preventing more loss? What can cause me to gain a half pound? I am consuming less than 300 calories a day. The sodium is high for sure. I tried the low sodium but come on, a girl has to have something to hold on to. The jello is all sugar free. I did get some regular popsicles though, just for some variety. I have not had a single problem to date. Just a little sore and stiff. Oh, and I'm fricken hungry! Finally able to sleep on either side. Thank god. Things are going along just fine. I could not be happier about my decision. I'm happy with the 7 lbs but was hoping for more. And what the heck is this half a pound gain about? I'm on day 8 with a total loss of 6.5 pounds. should I be pleased with this? Lay it on me gang. Guest guest
, , , the first couple of weeks are important that you follow the rules. I think you might be retaining water and that might be why you are 1/2 lb more. You should really have sugar free popsicles, sugar turns into fat and you don't want that to happen. But besides the little cheating you have done your are loosing and that's great. Stick to the rules and you will see quicker results. Guarantee, I didn't like the protein drinks, but I did drink the whey protein which taste a little better than the others. Good Luck and keep us posted.wendyelam81 <welam@...> wrote: Hi all. Guest guest
, Your doing ok..really! Think of the sugar Popsicles as a "juice". By the way are you having juices?1-2 a day max (16 oz)I would say. I'm sure you know our water fluctuates and even on a low cal regimen, it fluctuates so don't be to concerned. If you give your body water it will release the extra water. You should focus on healing right now and not on the weight loss...any loss is a bonus at this stage!! Once you start getting fills, then you can expect weight loss more steadily ok? Good luck, try to get 1 protein drink a day if at all possible...Dana -------------- Original message -------------- From: Michel <mchlanna@...> , , , the first couple of weeks are important that you follow the rules. Guest guest
, I am so glad you are doing well. I had been wonderng about you and how you faired in Mexico. Please be encouraged over your weight loss. Stay on your program. You do need your protein, though. Mix some flavored water with it and add crushed ice to make it more palatable. IF it isn't sweet enough, add some Splenda--anything to help your body heal more quickly. Remember, in just a few more days you will have more choices. I would stick with low sodium canned soups if you are going to use them. They do make you retain fluids. Also, be sure you are drinking your water to flush the fat and salt out. This is very hard for me because I get so busy at work that I don't think about drinking water. I need to work on this myself. Remember what has said many times that our bodies are all different--so we will loose differently. If you cut your caloric intake too low, your body will go into " starvation " mode, which means it will hold on to the weight it has in reserve. I know all of this (as probably do you) because I have been on every diet on the planet and been counseled and taught be the best--mostly to know avail--hence the lap band procedure. Keep the faith in yourself. You are WONDERFUL and SUCCESSFUL! Wishing you the absolute best!!!! Guest guest
(sirens) , step away from the scale with your hands in the air. You are being arrested by the scale police for excessive use of the scale!!! But seriously, you are gonna hear this all over the place. THIS IS A TIME FOR HEALING….not losing. You are working with a deflated band right now, you are gonna be hungry. Focus on getting in the protein (yes, mix those isopure with some gatoraide or sugar free coolaid or something to get the protein in!) The more protein, the less hungry you will be, trust us. Meanwhile, focus on healing the scar tissue around the band, don’t make your stomach work (in other words, don’t eat foods you aren’t supposed to) and before you know it, it will be time for your first fill and you will officially be a bandster and on the losing side. Then you can worry if you are not losing 1-2lbs a week which is your goal. Slow and steady. The name of the game right now is patience and perseverance. Welcome to bandster boot camp. Guest guest
omg... I so needed to read that. I am only 5 days out and had some sugar free pudding today. The guilt monster has been on my shoulder all day. Hunger is definitely a problem. Which are the best protien drinks for weeks one and two? Don't they have to be clear? After the first few weeks if I never see broth again, life will be good. Thanks for the help...
Guest guest
Isopure makes a clear liquid protein drink. Available at GNC stores (and probably other health food stores). Kinda expensive but think of it as you aren’t spending the money on food. Some do not like the taste of it but I was ok with it. You can mix it with other things to make it taste better. See attachment for pictures of the isopure. Oh I just did a google search and found this site where you can order online http://isopureoutlet.com/inc/sdetail/82 .. I wouldn’t recommend the powder isopure that you mix yourself. I have a whole jug of that stuff and I couldn’t stand it. Guest guest
Gosh........everyone is so different. I LOVE the broth. I never thought about having a cup of broth as a snack in-between meals but I will now. I am only 9 days out and it is the one thing I look forward to in my daily diet. I am drinking the New Whey protein but it is too sweet for my taste. Looking forward to the protein powder stage next week. By the way, I can't find where it says how many grams of protein we are supposed to consume in a day. Someone said 50 and someone else I believe said 75.....anyone know for sure? TWENTY POUNDS down as of this morning! Wow! I can hardly believe it. I know this will slow down pretty soon and that is okay. Hope all my 25th Gang are doing great. I miss you guys. Guest guest
Good morning. You are so right. Yesterday I decided I needed to have the liquid protein no matter how bad it taste. I was down two pounds this morning for a total loss of 8.5. I don't care how bad it is. If that's what happens when you drink it, it's my new favorite thing ever. My grocery store only has 1 flavor of sugar free popsicles so I did get some regular ones. Now that I'm feeling better, this weekend I will venture out to another store and get some proper suger free ones. Thanks for the kick in the butt. Feeling a lot better today about my progress! Guest guest
Good morning . I've been thinking about you too. I'm proud to tell you that although I was prepared, I had no airport incident. I was sweatin that one out. I guess I knew before I even wrote it yesterday that I really needed the liquid protein. I did choke one down yesterday and to my surprise, I was down 2 pounds this morning. trust me, I will drink my protein every day from here on out. And yes, a few more days till more choices. I can barely wait. Frist on the list is cream of mushroom soup and a vanilla peach protein shake. Never thought I'd be so happy at that prospect. I'm doing well with recovery, down 8.5 pounds and happy as can be. I can sleep well now and am feeling almost back to normal. I am so thrilled with my decision. It's funny, I immediately traded one obsession for another. Two weeks ago, it was food, now it's the scale. I'm having a good time with it though. , thanks again for all your help. . > > , I am so glad you are doing well. I had been wonderng about you and > how you faired in Mexico. Guest guest
LOL. I know, I know. For the last two days, I've only gotten on the scale first thing in the morning. One time and one time only. I'm just so anxious. I'm good. Now that I'm healing and starting to feel better, I'm excited to move on to the next phase and so on, so I can get my first fill and really get started. I've been sticking to the diet except the liquid protein. I did drink some yesterday and lost two pounds over night. I will be having the icky liquid protein every day from now on, trust me. I already had some this morning. I'm actually doing pretty good with the broth and such. It's not ideal, but it's just not that big of deal. If I get hungry, I just have some more broth. Just a few more days till phase 2. I'm looking forward to that for sure. I'm moving right along. Doing well and so completely happy with my decision. Thanks for keeping on the right path . . > > (sirens) , step away from the scale with your hands in the air. Guest guest
I must be the only person that likes the powder. I thought it tasted great especially during the first four weeks. It tastes like vanilla frosting with a little salty after taste. I mix it with HOOD choclate milk and get a great high protien drink. It is the least calories but highest protien count that I have found. Ken Mills <tracy@...> wrote: Isopure makes a clear liquid protein drink. Available at GNC stores (and probably other health food stores). Kinda expensive but think of it as you aren’t spending the money on food. Some do not like the taste of it but I was ok with it. You can mix it with other things to make it taste better. See attachment for pictures of the isopure. Oh I just did a google search and found this site where you can order online http://isopureoutlet.com/inc/sdetail/82 . I wouldn’t recommend the powder isopure that you mix yourself. I have a whole jug of that stuff and I couldn’t stand it. Stay in the know. Guest guest
Shirley , The amoun of protein per person varies , posted a site where you can check exactly how much you need. Around 60 to 70 is usually good for most people. Enjoy the rapid weight loss! Nina > > Gosh........everyone is so different. I LOVE the broth. Guest guest
Hey Sherri. 20 pounds. Alright!!!!!! That is awesome. I'm so happy for you. I read where Rena lost 15 and that was a few days ago. I'm only down 8.5 but I think it's because I wasn't drinking the clear liquid protein. I finally did yesterday and I lost two pounds over night. You're right, the broth is actually very good. I've never had it before either and I do look forward to it when it's time to nuke a bowl. I'm just complaining because I want something else now. I thought it was 50 grams of protein. Keep in touch. . DOB 9/25/06 241/232.5/who knows! > > Gosh........everyone is so different. I LOVE the broth. Guest guest
Hi Jenni, You had mentioned that 50 Gram Slam once before and I went and tried a couple of the different flavors. I went back and got a case of it. It is a great way to know that I am getting enough protein. Thanks for the tip. When I go back on liquids after my fill this weekend, I will simply survive on water for a few days. I'd rather be hungry than eat either of those two foods again! lol Actually, I sort of look at the opportunity of forced liquids (water for me) as a period of cleansing that our bodies need at times but never had before. Once you are in the full liquid stage, please seek out a GNC. They have a product there (their own brand) called 50 Gram Slam that is truly delicious. It has 50 grams of protein and only 270 calories. I only drink the milk chocolate (like there are any other flavors?????) but I have heard the cookies n cream is pretty good. Anyway, do what you can for now. If you can find this stuff called New Whey Protein that comes in these hard, plastic, test tube looking things, they are clear liquid and they taste pretty good. The Isopure is disgusting but there are other things out there. I buy the New Whey at Smoothie King. You could probably find it on the internet if you don't have a Smoothie King. By the way, the blue raspberry one tastes the best. Good luck and STICK WITH THE RULES! Treat your precious band like a baby! It will be with you for life as long as you treat it correctly! Guest guest
Hey Ken I think we all prefer the powders to the clear but we are NOT supposed to have them until week THREE! Are you saying you had the powders the first two weeks? Sherrie

Guest guest
Oh and Ken, I was talking about the clear powder stuff, not the milk based or non clear stuff. J I still have a big tub of mango pineapple or something. M DOB 3/1/05 280/163/160 5ft 6in size 8-10 http://www.tracyslapband.com From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of rdschroder71@...
