Guest guest
Wow, what a difference. You're looking great, doesn't it feel good to have 40lbs gone?? Hey, if you haven't done so yet, get your measurements. I didnt do this and I wished I had, so it's not too late for you to start. Good Luck and keep up the great work! Kelli > > In 's Album. Guest guest
Hey, Dana and everyone - just getting back to reading the message board. You are all doing so well!! I'm really proud of you. And those of you posting pictures, wow! You look so fantastic! Oh, to be young again. I do wish I had started this when I was still young. I'm 57, was banded in April and have lost 60#. That's 60# and holding, and holding.... I got "off my feed" as they say and was eating whatever and whenever I wanted. So, I stopped losing weight. Part of me, I think, is afraid to lose more. I am getting sooo saggy. In a knit top, my arms look almost as big as before because of all the flabby skin. And in my abdomen and lower belly, it's like the fat is melting and sliding downward!! Sometimes I think I'm bigger than ever! All that aside, I've had some wonderful NSVs including once again going "shopping" in my own closet and finding some great clothes. I used to work in San Francisco and have some of the expensive clothes left from then. Also, clothes I couldn't wear comfortably a few weeks ago at my minus 60# I can wear now, so something is happening even if it's not showing on the scale. Any other "older gals" or "guys" out there who have dealt with the flab problem? Maybe someone who has lost their weight after being banded longer ago than I was? Helpful hints appreciated!! Happy New Year to all of us - to our new selves - to our happier and healthier selves!! Phyllis
Guest guest
Hey Phyllis! I wondered where you were. I am just getting caught up on my reading of the message board after about a month of not! About 800 messages behind or more! I just keep plugging along and even though I am loose skinned I continue to lose and just put that " apron " into tighter pants and don't wear sleeveless shirts. My face is quite wrinkly too but I am the one behind it so I don't have to see it except in the mirror, hehehe. I am 67 years old so I'm not sure I want to have a bunch of plastic surgery but my daughter is already talking about us checking into it. I still have about 20 lbs. to lose and then I want to wait at least a year for my body to adjust. Maybe exercise and see what happens too. I'm glad to see what a great weight loss you have had and hope you continue on your journey. I had a 3-4 month plateau last summer and then had a fill which is fairly tight and have lost about 20 more lbs. This band is just so interesting with every day being a new adventure--even after 15 months. I hope you have a wonderful New Year and get to play alot of golf!! Guest guest
Penny You are very sassy for a 67 year old and you just go for it as you are now my hero. But go for the plastics. I've been checking into a place in Costa Rico, with a DR Rosenstock, they have good prices, plus they can send you to a recovery retreat that has medical staff to care for you. So if your daughter went to, they could travel around and visit and sight see while you recover, knowing you are cared for. They can even get you a cell phone. I'm really liking this idea. My husband took care of me while I was sick this past year and a half, and I don't want him to play full time Care giver any more, (takes some of the romance out of marriage) I'm thinking Coasta Rico is cool because he can know and see I'm cared for but go check out some rain forest, and other sights too. I'm not big on hiking thorugh mud and bush and wouldn't have wanted to do that any way. And no way if any snakes or lizards were involved. if you want the info I've gather, email me at karenostrom@... and I'll send you some links to look at some of the stuff I've found. Guest guest
Hey , You are very much on my mind today since it is your surgery day!!! My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. You are such a positive thinking person that I know you will sail through this first(and hardest) part of your journey. I am still trying to get caught up with all the messages I missed over the holidays so this is a little late but you can read it when you get home. Anyway..... it is such a coincidence that you mentiond going to Costa Rica for the plastic surgery. My daughter also had the lapband about 2 months before me and has lost about as much as I have. We are both about the same weight now and need to lose about 20 lbs. more. She has been looking at property to buy in Costa Rica (she wants a farm to grow cocoa on). Maybe we need to go down there and check out land and then get our facelifts, tummy tucks, etc. I am definitely interested in your info! Carla (my daughter)lived in Columbia for a few years and never mentioned snakes etc. there but that's a whole different place. Best wishes to you, , I am saving a place for you on the losing bench!
