Guest guest
, I am glad that it was just a potasium problem that was able to be fixed!! Get well soon! I have no problem when I stand up but boy do I get dizzy when I lay down or bend down to pick something up. This is the second time this has happened to me since the surgery (5months ago) but has also happened to me at least twice in the last 5 yrs. I did have blood work done two weeks ago (before dizzy symptoms), they came back normal except for low HDL levels which doctor said would go up with excersise (did join a gym two weeks ago!). I wonder why I am dizzy too? I did have a cold and I thought it was from sinus problems or an ear infection. B

I mean, everything from dumping much more usual (I've dumped more in the last 2 months then I have in the last 2 years without any difference to my diet) than normal (potassium regulates bowels) to headaches, to what I thought was fibromyalgia - muscle pain and extreme fatigue- even depression (which I am on medication for). Most of the things I have read has said that people who are deficient are not usually deficient due to poor diet, but rather anorexia, a lot of vomiting or diarhea or use of diaretics. Well, as we all know - this is kind of what our body is geared for now - so it makes sense. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know how important it is to get those vitamins and minerals in and let you know my experience. Guest guest
, Last year I was hospitalized overnight for fainting. The did all the tests too, very concerned it might be heart related. My son was ill at the time and also in the hospital so part of my problem WAS exhaustion, but the major issue appeared to be low potassium too. It really is dangerous and scary. When I passed out 3 or 4 times in about 1 hour, I looked like I was having a seizure so that is what got me admitted. Pretty scary stuff, but I haven't had a single problem with it since. Take good care of yourself. V I was in the hospital Last week I posted about how sick I was - well, Monday I went to work and almost passed out every time I stood up. Guest guest
Glad to hear you are OK, . I'll be sure to heed your vitamin warning. I'm not as good as I should about getting 3 vitamins a day. I'd say I get 2 a day about 70% of the time and 1 a day 100% of the time - 3 a day unfortunately happens like maybe 30% of the time. On a scale from 1-10 how good were you about taking the 3 multi-vitamins a day, that Dr. Rutledge recommends? 1 being very bad, 10 being a star patient 242/175 9/17/02 >From: " allison lee " <alee@...> >Reply- >< >, <MGB-Florida > >Subject: I was in the hospital >Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 21:17:05 -0500 > >Last week I posted about how sick I was - well, Monday I went to work and >almost passed out every time I stood up. Guest guest
Notice----potassium deficiency can be lethal in some circumstances. Keep up with your gatorade. When you have the flu/stomach virus or any bowel change that makes you have bm's alot or they are diarrhea---- be sure to keep your electrolytes up by drinking gatorade. Water won't do the job. Sodium deficiency, too can leave you not feeling up to par. When you're feeling, tired, listless, dizzy, lightheaded, woozy and generally washed out.....check yourself. 1. Are you taking your vitamins 2. Are you drinking some gatorade
Guest guest
, I'm Rhonda . I had the MGB Nov. 30, 2000. I was having dizzy spells and thought it was because I was being treated for bronchitis and my asthma had flared up a little while I was sick. I saw Dr. R. while this was going on and he told me that I wasn't getting enough salt. He told me to buy a cheap WalMart watch and to set the alarm and eat something salty every hour and increase my gatorade. I didn't buy the watch but I did start eating more salt and increased my intake of gatorade. By that evening the dizzy spells went away. I had been having them for about a week before I did this. I thought I was drinking a lot of gatorade and thought my salt intake was pretty high. Guess it wasn't. I try to eat a bag of pretzels or something every day now. Guest guest
I just fainted several times in a short period of time.very scary, BUT my son was very sick and had been in the hospital for several weeks and I was by his bedside non-stop. I am sure that contributed to it too, but after I got the potassium I felt much better and haven't had a problem since. Guest guest
I passed out 3 times when Landon was about 2 months old. I'd got up in the night to get Savannah a drink and never did quite make it. Passed out three times on the way to the kitchen. I didn't go to the doctor cause it never happened again, but I wonder if Potassium could have been my problem. Never occurred to me. I figured I must have been dehydrated. in OK In a message dated 02/27/2003 6:55:30 AM Central Standard Time, valmaboyz@... writes: << When I passed out 3 or 4 times in about 1 hour, I looked like I was having a seizure so that is what got me admitted. Guest guest
, Perhaps you should have someone test your blood pressure when you have a dizzy spell. I have pretty low blood pressure and have had episodes like that in the past when it was running exceptionally low. Guest guest
There is also a non-Gatorade drink that is very high in potassium (and tastes great!) that is sold by the Keto products company at www.lifeservices.com I order a lot of things from them because they are low carb, no aspartame, no saccharin, and no mallitol, but they taste very good. The drink I like is called Keto Kooler. They have Pink Lemonade and Grape. I buy the grape. It is a powder that dissolves instantly, the minute it gets in water. One serving has 500 mg of potassium. The bottle is $17.95, but has a LOT of servings in it because you only use 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. per 8 oz. glass of water. I also love their low carb, high protein bars. My favorite is peanut butter and chocolate. It tastes just like a Reese's peanut butter cup, but where as that would make me sick right now, the Keto bar adds 20 gm of protein to my diet with no sugar.
