Guest guest
PBing and Sliming are the bane of every bandster!!! Not pleasant, but a fact of life that every bandster experiences at one time or another. We'll start with sliming because it is the more frequent of the two episodes. If you eat too much, too fast, or something just ain't gonna go down easily, you end up sliming. When food gets stuck above your band, your esophagus tries to do something with it naturally. Your esophagus secretes extra mucus to try to work the food down....or up. You cannot swallow this so, it must come out. You typically know when it is coming so you can typically excuse yourself and head to privacy. (Except for the time that I kept having to open my car door and spit it out of the car!!! UGH) Now, PBing is when the food just will NOT go down! Sliming - you don't spit out the food, just mucus. PBing (productive burping) is when the food comes right back up. It isn't throwing up because the food hasn't been digested but it is just as terrible feeling. You learn quickly which foods make you do this and you stay far, far away! This is what makes you decide very quickly which foods you will never crave again. In my case, it's eggs. They used to be one of my favorites but I have only had eggs twice since my surgery 7 months ago and I couldn't handle them either time. Therefore, because of the miserable, physical reaction, I will never eat another egg in my life!!! I'm just about that way with french fries too. I will eat 2 at the most out of fear of another episode. Therefore, I honestly never crave them. Anyway, hope this helps somewhat! So now that we are on the lingo what is PBing, and sliming?Terry RadfordNampa, Idaho> >> > I'm a newbie in here and was wondering about the sign-off that most > > use in here?> > > > Example:> > DOB 10/23/05> > 241/172/155> > > > > > Just curious! Guest guest
Jenni, I wish I could be like everyone else and just PB when the food didn’t agree with me. Why can’t I just do that? It seems like everyone else knows when it is gonna happen and can excuse themselves. Me? It won’t happen on it’s own, I have to do the old “finger down the throat” thing and keep trying several times and sometimes that doesn’t even work. It has always been this way. Of course, I have only “Pb-ed” around 5 times. I call it throwing up because I can’t just burp and have it come up. Is anyone else like this? The other thing I wanted to ask is who else get’s the pain in the left side under the rib cage when they overeat or over drink? I can’t be the only one….say it isn’t so! Guest guest
Hey Stef, I live in Ranger so I am only about 1 hr west of you. There is a great fill doc near you as well that I have used from the beginning. Actually two doctors, Dr. Dobson and Dr. . They work out of the same office there in Grand Prairie. Fills cost $150 without flouro and $250 with. You can get their number and email off my web page (see link below). Welcome to the group! Stef > Wow! I just read everyone's responses...Thank You! About me... I married my best friend and high school sweetheart in 1988, six years after we met. We live in Fort Worth, Texas with our daughter 17, son 14, Black Lab 9, Tortie cat 2 and Pomeranian 4 months. (Our animals are full members of the family!) My husband is 40 and works offshore in the oil industry as an engineer and I am 39 and an Executive Assistant and also have my own business as a Virtual Assistant specializing in Business Coaching and Event Planning. I've been researching bariatric procedures off and on for over three years. It all started when I was helping my sister decide what to do. She was very heavy and ended up having RNY Gastric Bypass surgery, with phenomenal results. She was always gorgeous, but now she is thin, healthy and gorgeous! I do not qualify for any available procedures here in the states, but feel that I would really benefit from the Lap Band. I don't wish to alter what God gave me with the RNY...I just need Lap Band " training wheels " for weight loss! At any rate, a few weeks ago my mother in law was banded in Houston, and I told myself I needed to get off the fence, so I started back into researching again and very quickly came across Dr. A and you folks here! I was sold immediately and decided right then and there that I was going to dig in and start the process. That was not long ago and I just received the email from Nina telling me that I am approved for surgery! YEAH! I thought that was going to be my largest obstacle, but I guess not! Now I just have to work out the financing. I have applied and should know more tomorrow...wish me luck! Thanks again for such a warm welcome!!!!!! Stef P.S. I WANT A DOB!!!!!
