Guest guest
Lori- A few years ago my ENT was considering doing a mastoidectomy on me for chronic otitis media (ear full of goo) and she sent me for a second opinion with an ear specialist she trained with. He suggested that it would help- but only for a time. The goo would come back. So we opted not to do it. I have either an ear full of goo and hearing loss, or a draining hole in my eardrum and good hearing. At least I only (mostly) have it in one ear. (so far, and it's been 10 years!) Guest guest
Hi Karla: Thanks for the information. I have problems in both ears with ployps inside too. I think I might just live with it. I really don't want to have any more surgery. Guest guest
You can actually get polyps in your ears? I've been pretty lucky, I don't have problems with my ears (unless you ask my husband!). Guest guest
My wife had a radical CWDmastoidectomy last Friday with none of the problems described afterward, although her ear is still draining a lot. Four prior operations to fix a perforated eardrum and remove cholesteatoma had failed. Her hearing in that ear is no worse than before, which was almost non-existent.
