Guest guest
ongratulations on your band! I did have some headaches, but the Tylenol took care of them. The first 5 or 6 days were not wonderful, but I have had much worse. Aren't thye pets wonderful? Mine are such good nurses and comforters. sk On 10/9/07, Pamela Squires <squirehaven@...> wrote: Hello Bansters: I had my band placed on 10/5/07. Guest guest
Hi Pamela, congrats!! I had my band put on on 10/3/07 and because we drove in from my daughter's home in Lake Havasu City, we left on the afternoon of the 4th. I had two bandster buddies, Carla and Jill, and we all seemd to be doing great when I left. I have been doing really ggod so far except for a little pain in my left shoulder area from the "gas." I was in a wedding in Vegas on Saturday and we flew back home to Nebraska afterwards in the aftrenoon. I took Sunday and Monday to rest and was back at work today...but still got a bit too tired by the end of the day. I'll see how I do tomorrow. My wife and I have one little old poodle (9 pounder) that was sure glad to see us when we picked her up at "Grandpa's" house. She will be 18 years old March 1st, and still likes to play a little...and sleep alot. I work in a hospital and was in awe of the entire event. The hospital was beautiful and incorporated alot of "Plain Tree" philosophy, which is a growing trend in American healthcare. The customer service was great and quite personable, although I don't speak a lick of spanish (did you do OK with this?). Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos should be cloned and spread all over the place! Wow! So far I have not had any headaches or unbearable hunger pangs. I'm getting my protein in too and happen to love chicken and beef broth which was a lucky thing. My wife has been great and really supportive and will be a major factor in my success. Seldom do we here from folks on the message boards praising the spouses and partners who have had to change their lifestyles and eating habits, and who have dedicated themselves to be there to encourage us in our walk toward a new healthy lifestyle. I see you haven't set a goal yet either...I'm kinda nervous about that part. Right now I am going to finaly do it... DOB: 10/3/07 276/261/185 OK now...here we go! Guest guest
congrats on being a bandster! :-) your banniversary date is only one from mine. :-) I was 10/6/06. we will have banniversaries close to each other! :-) hope the headaches get better. sometimes headaches can be a cause of low blood sugar, and because you arent eating, maybe that could be causing them? just a thought....... take care, > > > > Hello Bansters: I had my band placed on 10/5/07. Guest guest
Thanks Jodi...I am still using the Isopure, but very little. I actually found this stuff from " Diet " that is awesome AND high in protein. I'll try the Unjury too. I was a bit surprised at the cost of the Isopure too, wow, a bit high:-) I sure havee lost weight this first 7 days, but still have a terrible sore shoulder. In fact, I'm wondering if it isn't related to something else. Shouldn't the " gas " pains go away after this long? Otherwise I'm doing pretty darn good. I live in Sidney, Nebraska, on th western end of the state. My wife and I both grew up in Oshkosh Nebraska which is about 60 miles northeast of here. We have been away from the area for quite awhile living in Williston, North Dakota. It sure is nice to be back close to family. Any other western Nebraskans on the boards?? Guest guest
Hi, fellow " newbie " I was banded just 3 weeks before you, give or take a day. You will have your good days and your bad, as everyone here will probably agree. About the headaches...were you a caffine addict? (as I was) My pre-0p instructions requested that I cut back on caffine to avoid headaches after surgery. It was probably the hardest part of the pre-op thing, but I did it. Sure, I'm still a little slow getting started in the morning, but at least I don't have the headaches. I have been very fortunate, not one hunger pain not even once, go figure (???) but, it's a blessing. Only problem when your'e not hungry, but have to eat, it's hard to get motivated. I had the forthought of ordering a good supply of Unjury products off the internet before the surgery, it came the day after I came home from the hospital. It has been a Godsend! I even mixed it with water the second 5 days then boy did it taste reallly great using milk! (haa haa) Congratulations on your new step into the life of bandsters. I am still a newbie, but learning a little bit more about myself and my new little " buddie " every day. On to the next step...going in for my first fill on Nov. 8! Best wishes on your journey, Jeanie 246/237.4/135 > > Hello Bansters: I had my band placed on 10/5/07. I had one bandbuddie > and we both came home on Sunday 10/7. Guest guest
Hi Jim, I was banded on September 18th. My shoulder pain lasted up until a few days ago(almost 3 weeks). The gas goes away within the first week. I was told there is a nerve that runs from your diaphragm to your shoulder and sometimes the c02 gas they use will irritate that nerve in some people. I felt pain in my chest and left shoulder for quite a while but, it did eventually go away. Missybchc59 <bchc59@...> wrote: Thanks Jodi...I am still using the Isopure, but very little. Guest guest
Thanks Missy, that does make sense. I'll just be patient and let it run it's course. How are you doing adjusting to the new " bandster " lifestyle? Did you experience a good weight loss while on the clear liquids? -jim > > Hello Bansters: I had my band placed on 10/5/07. Guest guest
Jim, The gas lasted a month for me...But it will go away...When it hurts the best thing that helped me was getting up and walking, sort of like a leg cramp, it would always let up after walking for just a few minutes... Just know, It's all down hill from now on...The band is in place and ready and willing to work for you...All you have to do is steer it...You may hit a few bumps along the way but that is part of bandster life...It's a great ride... Good luck and best wishes for a safe & speedy weight loss... ~Rena DOB: 9/26/06 204/136/135Missy Payne <missy_payne@...> wrote: Hi Jim, I was banded on September 18th. Guest guest
Hi Jim, Yes, I lost 12 pounds while on liquids. I am on solid food now. I was bad and started solid food about 5 days early. I can't wait for my first fill because I can pretty much eat anything I want right now. I am trying to make healthy choices but my portions are not really much less than what I could eat before surgery. 2 more weeks and I get my fill!
