Guest guest
I had surgery Jan. 14/09 - down 130 pounds which Im happy about except now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Usually after a meal I get fast heart rate, dizziness, tired etc. I have to lie down. I try to get my protien in every day - but I do like my carbs and sweets. I just read that you can get reactive hypoglycemia after stomach surgery - have you heard of this? Anyone else have this problem? Im going to the doctor this week. ________________________________ From: Flo Ballengee <flo@...> Sent: Wed, July 28, 2010 8:04:53 PM Subject: RE: Surgery card - Anne Sorry Anne, but I mean who is your CLOS MGB doctor. Guest guest
It is true. I have had a couple episodes myself and if I had not been diabetic prior to my MGB, I would have missed the signs.  Elinor R. Guest guest
Yes, I got it right about at 1 year. Nobody could figure out what the problem was until I bought a little blood sugar tester and went to an endocrinologist with the results. Even a gp should understand low blood sugar. I am especially suseptable in the mornings. I finally found someone who understood and he prescribed me acarbose. It is a small tablet that regulates the rate of sugar into my system. Well, that's my simplistic explanation anyway. I had to almost completely cut out carbs in the am for a while to handle it. Now I loosely follow the " zone " plan by balancing carbs, proteins and fats at each meal. Even if I take a couple citracell tabs with a dessert or something over the top sugary, it will help slow the rate of reaction. Please email me if you have more specific questions. It was very frustrating for me and I would like to help anyone else I can. Now, 4 years out it's not such a big deal, but I am still cognizant of it.
