Guest guest
Your hilarious Jenni, and Yes I can tell you are bored today!! lol sounds like your bands likes stuff that the bandy shouldnt be eating!!! lol and OMG my band hates eggs too!!!! I had a egg episode this last week. I made them for breakfast one morning and I was all excited to eat them, and then a few bites and uhhh here came the slime and the pb. and then hating to waste food I thought to myself " well maybe it is because it was in the morning " , so I took the left over eggs and took them for lunch, and it did the same thing. yuck! I am staying away from eggs right now! there are plenty of other things my band will eat so I wont put myself throught that misery again. well have fun being bored. lol I am off to do some stuff around the house. hugs, > > Maybe you all can tell I'm little bored today..... lol > > Foods My Band Likes: > > Ice Cream > Ground Beef > Green Beans > Salad > Ice Cream > Casseroles > Tacos (I'm convinced it is because I am now part Mexican!! lol) > Refried Beans (read above note) > Ice Cream > Pudding > Yogurt > Grits (I may be part Mexican but I'm all Southern!) > Oatmeal > Ice Cream > Oreo Cookies > Grapes > Watermelon > Broccoli > Peeled apples > Meatloaf > Tuna Salad > Tostitos > Salsa > Cheese > Ice Cream > Saltine Crackers > Popcorn > Chocolate > > > Foods My Band Does NOT Like: > Eggs > Eggs > Eggs > Potato Products > Did I mention eggs??? > Pasta > Chicken > Fish > Fried Foods > French Fries > Bread > Any crackers other than Saltines > Pineapples > Eggs > Eggs > Eggs > Bananas > Asparagus > Celery > Pizza > Hamburgers > Eggs > Eggs > Eggs > Candy Bars > Pastries > Doughnuts > More than 2 Oreos > Eggs > Eggs > Eggs > > Things My Band Likes to Do: > Swallow soft things > be treated kindly > be remembered that it is here to stay forever! > > Things My Band Does NOT like to do: > Swallow bites that are way too big > Swallow even the tiniest, most miniscule bits of eggs > try to be tricked into eating a casserole that has eggs hidden within > be expected to move things through too quickly > be forgotten > > > My band is my best friend! Guest guest
I have tried eggs in every single shape and form. I have tried to hide them in casseroles. I have tried to sneak them in, closing my eyes as I ate them. NOTHING works. You hear me???? NOTHING!!! I don't care if I EVER see another egg again for the rest of my life. They are painful, you hear? PAINFUL! We were going camping/canoeing one weekend. I thought, "Hey, boiled eggs would be a great source of protein for me!" So, I boiled a dozen. (Trip was going to be several days.) I peeled one and took a tiny bite. Ok...ok....so far so good. Then, I took another bite, this time enveloping some of that delicious yoke as well. I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE! I stood up in the canoe, my husband yelled at me to sit down. I sat down. I stood up again! I stepped right out, over the side, into the knee deep water, and got to the bank as quickly as I could, bending over my knees, PBing on eggs for what seemed like an eternity! My husband and my sons just kept looking at me like I had lost my mind. This was a first "BANDED" experience I was having with food. After hurling for about an hour, we moved on. I was an exhausted mess. I handed the eggs over to my sons in their canoe and there were many, many fish who were tickled pink to have eggs to eat that day....all the way down the river. I made a vow that day. I made a vow that I would NEVER mistreat my band again as long as I lived. (Or at least until I tried scrambled eggs a few weeks later). Everytime I eat eggs I have the same reaction. Go figure. Hell, I can eat honey roasted peanuts, popcorn, and numerous other things that don't seem possible but eggs kill me every single time. I think I will sit on my front stoop with a shotgun just in case that bunny gets any ideas this next Easter! One foot in my yard and he is history, I tell ya, HISTORY! Guest guest
Jenni, As humorous as this story is I feel your pain. I still have trouble with eggs and many other protein rich things. I did however find a wonderful protein drink that is not chalky or nasty and comes in many tasty flavors. They have two kinds-one is just Spirutein & one is KetoSlim.KetoSlim has about 28 grams of protein & only two carbs. This is what I drink every morning as I am too restricted to do any food. It is in powdered form and I put in 2% milk as whole is too heavy for me. I am a year out from my band DOB & I still have problems with all kinds of food but would not trade this for the world as IT IS the only way I could have lost any weight- I am down 75 lbs. Gotta love the Great Dr A & wonderful staff- they at the BEST! Feel better Cher DOB 10/14/05 246/171/160 5' 6" 18/20 womens -8/10 juniors Re: Funny things about our bands.... Guest guest
You guys are cracking me up. I love that Jenni's list mentions ice cream several times. My band would agree with yours! I have a question for you though. I had my surgery 9/25/06 and am fully recovered. I have not had a fill yet. I find myself able to eat everything I have tried so far with no trouble. Including eggs. No problem. Well, there was a small taquito incident, but that was my fault. Piggy girl that I am. Will this come to a screetching halt once I've had my first fill? If I have no trouble with eggs now, will I after my first fill? Is my tolerance before my first fill an indication of how it will be after or does the fill change everything? Everybody please chime in. My first fill is this Saturday. Thanks, . PS by the way to all you newbies who stopped loosing, me too. In fact I gained 2 lbs. I haven't lost anything in a week or two now. I'm not even sure how long cuz I just don't care. My clothes are getting bigger by the day and I will get my first fill and then start loosing weight. told me my first week to " STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE " . The best advise I ever received. Guest guest
, You cannot judge how your band will behave after your first fill. The egg incident was before my first fill. Before my first fill I was able to eat chicken. Now I cannot. (Maybe it is because my band has figured out that chickens are the ones who are actually responsible for the eggs in the first place!) Your band without a fill is kind of like a tire without air. For your tires to work properly, they need air. For your band to work properly, it needs a fill. My strong suggestion is that you take it really easy on your band after your fill. Start with baby steps again and even when you move onto solid foods, take teeny tiny bites until you are sure your band is agreeable with what you are asking it to eat. This will be the time that you and your band will start bonding!! lol Friend or foe....what will it be!!! That screeching halt you mentioned may not happen until several days after your fill. You know, right after you hit send on that email that you write to Nina complaining that you don't feel any restriction whatsoever? That is when it will hit you, I guarantee it! Everything will be smooth sailing (or swallowing) until that moment. You may be eating something as simple as chocolate pudding (sugar free, of course) and all of a sudden your band says STOP! And you find out that you can make it to the bathroom in one quick leap over the back of the sofa, legs in the perfect formation of an Olympic hurdler over the coffee table, quickly bowing down to the porcelin goddess, hurling what looks like brown jellyfish for what feels like an eternity! I know, I know! It's disgusting but it is SO TRUE!!! If you THINK you have PB'd before, just you wait until after your fill! Oh, the joys of the banded life! Basically, , you haven't lived a banded life until you have experienced a fill! Just keep reminding yourself that YOUR BAND IS YOUR FRIEND!!! Life is getting a little better, Jenni Curriewendyelam81 <welam@...> wrote: You guys are cracking me up. I love that Jenni's list mentions ice cream several times. My band would agree with yours! Guest guest
You are killing me. You are so hilarious. I like the part where your band figured out it was the chicken that laid the egg. Jenni, thanks for this info. I've been wondering and trying to prepare for my fill on Saturday. Things have gone so smoothly for me so far. So basically be prepared to start from scratch and get to know my band. Sounds good. I'm ready to get this bad boy up and running. I can't wait to meet my band and bond. Oh, and next time you pull the olympic couch jumping event, please get pictures! Thanks Jenni, you've given me a very good idea of what to expect. . > > Jenni, > > But have you tried eggs? Guest guest
Bandsters, I love eggs and I can't have eggs either, but I sure can egg flower soup from the Chinese Restaurant here in town and it is so good, so if you like eggs and want eggs that is an option.Cher <keno777@...> wrote: Jenni, As humorous as this story is I feel your pain. Guest guest
Hi, . I also can eat anything I want. I had one little slime episode on day 4 on jello and no others. No pb episodes, thank goodnes. I was down 20 and haven't lost in about five weeks. My first fill is 11/11 (I think you will be there, too)! I can't wait. Looking forward to seeing everyone. My surgery was 9/7 and my experiences have been swell. I have gained aboaut 5 pounds back but I have to be honest, I was travelling for three weeks, had company for one week--eating out, etc., back with a heavy workload at my company with long hours and no exercise. I am longing for my routine back! Guest guest
I wonder if I am the only one on the list that can still eat anything? I can eat bread, pasta, eggs, potato……..anything. There is not one food in particular I have PB-ed on and I still have not PB-ed more than 5 times. (usually from not chewing or eating too fast) I guess I am lucky! Guest guest
OOOOOH Jenni! I am with you all the way with the eggs! I thought it was an allergy for awhile but not really! I also thought about boiled eggs and a nice egg salad or deviled eggs but no way! The funny thing is that I can eat them in things like creme brulee, baked goods, and custard based items like pumkin pie. But that is it. All nice high calorie items you'll notice, too. Yes, the peanuts, popcorn and lots of chocolate and ice cream work very well for me but alas, I can forgo them for awhile until I reach my goal. Isn't that neat, that we CAN forgo all those nice treats and really not miss them as much as we would have without our bands! Best wishes, Penny > Jenni, > But have you tried eggs? I have to use a little more self dicipline than I had hoped I would, but Its still working much better than before my band. I am very glad I did this for me. There is not one food in particular I have PB-ed on and I still have not PB-ed more than 5 times. (usually from not chewing or eating too fast) I guess I am lucky!
