I am having some soreness around where my band is...just started today.

Feels sorta like I am bruised or something there. When I feel around

that area it is hard, and when I push on it is sore a bit. I cant feel

my port anymore since the swelling has gone down, but feel what is like

a big lump around where I think the band is. Has anyone had this happen

to them? I am concerned and wondering what the symptoms of band

slippage is. I can eat fine. I have PB'd a few times, but nothing

really that bad. Anyone know what this soreness could be from?

Help!!!!

I think what you were feeling with your port is not the actual port but scar tissue. People swear up and down it's their port but it is usually a ball of scar tissue. Within days/weeks it goes away and they are left being unable to feel their port again.

As for the pain, I think you might be really surprised at how high up the band is. You have two incisions down the middle of your stomach. The band is higher than the top incision.

Exactly where are you feeling pain?

,I asked the surgeon in the US and he said we wouldn't be able to feel the actual band, just the port. I'm not sure what you are feeling but I don't think it could be the band. I do have soreness where my big incision is and especially if I do a lot of physical work, then I feel like I'm bruised right there. It is completely normal. I don't know the symptoms of slippage but I wouldn't worry too much about that. When do you have your first fill? Cyrena Help..I am having some discomfort

Sounds like your port area...It's normal for it to get sore on occasion...And it will feel hard too...I don't think it's anything to worry about...The more weight you lose the more you'll feel the port...I notice mine gets sore and hard when I over eat... Hope this helps, Renamrsdash1966 <kristen@...> wrote: I am having some soreness around where my band is...just started today. Feels sorta like I am bruised or something there. Cyrena:

Thanks for replying. I go for my fill in Mexicali on the 14th of

September. I hope that this helps with my hunger as I am hungry all

the time now and stomach growling all the time. I am MORE hungry now

than before, but consuming less calories. I have a question, I see

alot of people following the Atkins or high protein low carb diet

with the band. I got the band because I didnt want to " diet " any

longer..I just wanted to control my eating and eat healthy, but not

have to count every calorie and carb, etc. Did you do this to loose

your weight? I mean, I thought that you could eat normally but you

were limited on the amount? Please let me know..thanks so much and

CONGRATS on your success!!

...Keep in mind that the band is a tool, not something that does all the work for you. Dieting in the traditional sense doesn't apply but you still need to watch calories. Most people... 99% of folks tend to underestimate caloric intake. I read other boards and it is always consistent, people swear they are not going over the calories prescribed by their doc. Yet they don't lose weight. When they start counting calories they realize just how many they are consuming.

You are on a diet, a diet is something you use to lose weight. How you choose to do that is up to you. We don't just get a band and wait for pounds to go away, it's not that easy. You do need to count calories in the beginning. Dr. A says 800 calories daily. If you don't count them how will you know when you have had your calories for the day? Another reason for counting calories is because you have to be very careful of what you put in your mouth. With restriction your food intake will be drastically limited and you need to get the healthy stuff in first before the garbage.

With a band you are creating a new lifestyle, a new way of eating. The way you choose to do that is up to you. Some do watch carbs, I do. If I eat carbs I turn into a big fat couch slug with no energy. If I cut out all white carbs I feel much better and I don't crave them. So I guess you can say I choose to use the Atkins way. Some count fat grams, some just count calories.

The thing is, with the band you have the opportunity to diet in a way you CAN do it. The more effort you put into it the faster you will lose.BTW, I did respond to your first message but I just received an email from this AM saying that my email keeps getting " timed out " and not to resend. So I don't know when it will go through. But going by memory I believe I wrote that the band is really much higher than you might expect. If you look at the two incisions in the middle (one is on top of the other) your band is bit higher than you top incision. You won't be able to feel the band but you might be able to feel the port. There is often times a lump where your port incision is and that is usually scar tissue. Within a few days/weeks it goes away. If it goes away you'll know it was scar tissue. If it doesn't it may be your port.

Hi ,Thanks for the encouragement. I'm sure by now you have read my post "pyscho bable" From that you will learn, no I have not cut ANYTHING out my diet. I eat everything that I want just smaller portions. The reason bandsters tend to follow the high protein "diet" is that we get so little food that to stay healthy we should make the most of every meal. By that I mean, if we are going to get 5 bites of food it should be high protein food so that we can get our protein in. Don't feel like you have to give everything up, just try and make wise food choices at each meal. Don't "diet" you will make yourself crazy, at least that's how it is for me. You will feel sooo much better after a fill. It makes your band start working, don't give up, hang in

there, you are doing great!! Also, remember that your tummy growling is a new way of life, it isn't your body saying it's hungry. Your tummy will growl while it's processing a whole meal, it growls while it's empty, it growls when it's almost full. Get my theme here???!!! LOL My husband and I used to laugh when I would get into bed and we would listen to my tummy growl, it would do it 3 times every time I laid down. HA HAAnyway, take care of yourself and remember to keep asking questions, that's why we are here. :) Hang in there until that fill :) Cyrena [Dr-Aceves-bandster s] Help..I am having some discomfort

I am almost 1 year out and I can feel either my port or scar tissue...I think it's my port because Dr. pushes around on it when he gives me my fill...He can tell if it's turned my messaging around the area...One time it had turned...It is also hard and gets sore at times...
