My understanding is that you should continue until you start losing LESS THAN

10 pounds per month. As long as you're losing 10 or more, continue the

actigall.

During the first few months you may lose a little slower, but continue

the actigall.

Hmm, all I know is that my weight loss is so slow I can't believe it.

I lost an average of 13 lbs/mo on a low carb diet for a total of 98 lbs in 6

months. I did it on my own, not dr supervised, no meds or anything and was

fine. I kept the weight off for years, drank 2 pots of doubly-caffeinated

coffee per day and never had a problem. The weight slowly crept back on when

I began suffering personal life traumas and clearly made repeated horrible

food choices until I gained back 50 lbs. over a 3 yr period.

I got so scared that I'd gain the rest, that I opted for the MGB. I now

average a loss of 7 lbs per month and am on all these medications...which is

why I called CLOS.

Like I said, each case is different so I would never advise anyone to stop

taking it unless they have discussed it individually with their dr.

I think the 1 yr guideline is because most MGB patients take 1 full year to

lose their weight. If mine doesn't speed up, I don't know what I'm going to

do. Certainly not pay another $17,000!

Patty H

I am over 3 years out and still losing weight. You have to work at it. I

keep track of calories and exercise. I just hit my all time low of 128. I

feel its very much up to me to keep the pouch working for me. I know I can

eat more than I used to be able to and occasionally push it. Bottom line

though is if the scale doesn't have numbers on it that I like in the

morning, I have a bad day. I wish I wasn't that way but I am and I was a

self pay and I don't want to ever be heavy again.

Hi,

Would you all mind sharing with me your experiences with taking the

Actigall? I'm really nervous about taking it and would be more

reaassured by hearing other people's reaction to this medication.

Thanks,

Sue

Actigall no problem! I have been taking 1 a day for the last couple of

months I have been losing less then ten lbs per month. I quit taking it and

had

a little acid reflux so I resumed.

I took it without question, Sue. I'm really glad I did after reading of

problems other people have had from not taking it. I had no side affects. Don't

know if I'm outside the normal experience or not, but I would definitely take

it just as directed had I to do it over again.

Hi littermate,

I was taking the Actigall and found I was nauseous all

the time. Part of the problem is I swallow alot of

air when I take pills and taking so many in the

morning was bothering me. Now I have switched to

chewables whenever possible. I need to restart the

Actigall but it feels so much better without it. Hope

you are doing well.

I was in a little bit different situation with the Actigall. I broke

out in hives and was very itchy with it. I took it for a few months

and then after talking with Dr. R, I quit. I was loosing about 8-9 # a

month. When I had the revision...I didnt even try it again. BUT...I

didnt stop it until I talked with Dr. R. Stopping this drug without

Dr. approval is not something that I recommend. I was just stating my

situation. Anne Hansen

Hi Sue. I didn't have any problems with them from the moment I started

taking them. Some do complain it upsets their stomach but it didn't with mine.

I

was A-ok but everyone is different.

Hi everyone, and a special hello to Pam, and all my other littermates!

Thanks everyone for your input on the Actigall. I will go ahead and

give it a try and see how it goes. I never did start it when I got

home, but I'll go ahead now. The thing is...I had a my gallbladder

out in 1990, and that's why I was so skeptical about it. Plus my

stomach can be overly sensitive to medications..hence the

nervousness.

I'm doing well, other than that though. My weight seems to

fluctuate day to day, sometimes up a couple of pounds and then stays

the same. Its actually stayed the same for the past couple of

weeks, which worries me. I just hope I'm doing all the right things.

I'm so sick of gatorade I cant tell you, and its so hot here I'm

literally craving just straight water. I'm drinking more green tea

though. I think I need to cut back on the carbs and up my protein

intake though. Knock off the burritos and quesadillas like I

mentioned before.

Any recommendations on protein drinks, btw? The smoothies I make in

the blender it usually takes me two days to get one blender full

down. I'm looking for other ways to utilize the whey protein.

Big hugs to all!

Sue
