Guest guest
Hi everyone! I just got back from the meeting with my surgeon, and I am now an official CICIW (Cochlear Implant Candidate In Waiting)!! I'm scheduled for surgery on August 12, and I will be getting implanted with the Nucleus 24. I'm especially excited because the surgeon told me that folks that make the Nucleus have just tested and released a new sensor array that will not destroy my existing hearing. Not that I have that much to destroy.... I hear 250 Hz just about perfectly but it drops off to nothing pretty soon after that. Anyway, thank you to all the people who have already sent their good wishes. I hope to meet more of you soon. I have questions. I know I do.... but I'm too excited right now to remember them :-D. Guest guest
Hi : You're having the same team that did me on AUg. 25 two years ago. Thanks to them I'm hearing now. Let me know if you have any questions or if you want to see somebody live wearing the CI we could meet at the Hearing Institute--I'm a teacher who lives nearby and it's summer so most times are convenient. Guest guest
Hi , That pretty much describes my hearing loss pre-implant too. You'll find this to be helpful though when listening to music. The residual hearing you have in the bass sounds makes for great depth in rock music...if that's your thing!
