Guest guest
Gloria, I keep it very simple in the food prep area too. I really, really love my Spirooli - Spiral Vegetable Cutter. I mainly use it for making raw pasta from zucchini. I do have an Exalibur dehydrator too that I used for pizza crusts, cookies, drying herbs, tomatoes and more but hasn't been used for a long time as today is quick and simple does it...for me..... I have a juicer, but today, it's back to basics. I am using less and less "stuff" that I accumulated over the years. For those who don't know about freecycle it is really "free" stuff others don't have need for. http://www.freecycle.org/finder carolg MorningGlory113@... wrote: What are you making that you need a fancy blender for? I got a great blender from freecycle. Glass jar and all. Sure suits my needs and the price was right. A juicer, blender and food processor are all I need.Gloria
Guest guest
I keep it very simple in the food prep area too. I really, really love my Spirooli - Spiral Vegetable Cutter Carol, I have a spiral slicer but never got the knack of using it. I just never got very nice spirals. I got broken semi spiral pieces and it took too much effort to hold the darn thing in place while I used it. Now I just use the food processor blade that cuts out little skinny strips ("shredder" attachment??). I have a big food processor and a mini-one. I mostly use the mini one. I don't like digging things out of the bottom of the blender so I use the food processor...the bowl is bigger. I had 3 juicers but only use the Champion. I gave one away on freecycle and I'm giving one of the other one away to a friend. Keeping the Champion. No Excalibur, although I'd like to get one someday. I just don't have enough need for a dehydrator right now. Oh..and also have a breadmachine that I got on freecycle but haven't used. Going to try that out this week. I use the blender, mini food processor, juicer, and a nut and seed grinder on a daily basis. And the Viajet ;-). Gloria
Guest guest
I also have the spiral slicer and I don't like it. Really Carol? I used my spiral slicer maybe 3 times and it's been sitting on top of the fridge ever since. I'll look into the Spirooli. I like the idea behind spiral slicers but this gadget I got was more trouble than it's worth. Gloria
Guest guest
Gloria, After using the Spirooli - Spiral Vegetable Cutter, there is no comparison to how easy this gadget is. I also have the spiral slicer and I don't like it. I do know how to use it, but nothing compared to my Spirooli which I love. I use the Spirooli it for making pasta out of the zucchini. I haven't played with doing anything more than this. With the spiral slicer I have made pasta, but don't like the very thin pasta it makes but also made cucumber ribbons out of peeled cucumbers with the spiral slicer. My two cents without being the inventor of the Spirooli and how much I love it. carolg MorningGlory113@... wrote: I keep it very simple in the food prep area too. Guest guest
I love my spirooli... it's easy to use and easy to clean. Wow!...Two testimonials. You've convinced me. I'm giving spiral slicing another chance. Gloria
Guest guest
SALADS... I love it for this... I do tomatoes, cukes, radishes, onions, peppers in a marinated dressing... This reminds me of a great dressing I make from the Hallelujah diet cookbook. I eat the stuff on bread, crackers etc. Even threw some on a baked potato once. I have a friend who has cancer and he's on "the diet" now. He was complaining about how bland it was. Then I suggested he make this dressing and he loves it. Yummy! Guest guest
SALADS... I love it for this... I do tomatoes, cukes, radishes, onions, peppers in a marinated dressing... this allows the dressing to soak in much quicker and better... Hubby loves when I do this.. and it eliminates trying to cut thin slices... SuzicarolG <cgiambri@...> wrote: Suzi, I have only used Spirooli for pasta. What else are you using it for?
