Guest guest
You know, if I am not mistaken, it sounds like you are afraid to swallow. The way you are describing is like the fluid gets to the back of the throat, and you try and swallow but you are afraid to or your brain isn’t listening. I hear this is common with surgery, especially with the numbing medicine they use in the throat for the tube. And some people are just afraid because they know they have just had weight loss surgery. Obviously you can swallow or you wouldn’t be getting in the fluids that you are. I would give it a few more days and I bet everything will work itself out. Guest guest
If you have a fever you might have the stomach flu, that is going around right now. Guest guest
Bubble Gum!! Who would have known??? LOL....I'm glad you can swallow again!! That's also suppose to help with heart-burn too! No peppermint or spearmint tho...surgarfree or calcium carbonate/sodium bicarbonate based gums work the best. I'm checking now for some "brand" names of these gums. I'll post when I find out. Great to know that the gum helped you out! Dana -------------- Original message -------------- From: "mybipley" <mybipley@...> I found out what the problem was. Weird yet true! I called a friend who is an older retired anesthiologist and he explained it. Sometimes after surgery your body is awake but your whole body just doesn't know it. He said that everyone coming out of surgery cannot swallow. As they wake up they can within a short time. There are a handful of people who have weird things like mine throughout a doc's career and I was one of them. The cure? Bubble Gum. I know, weird. He said to chew a gumball and the chewing action and swallowing would fix the problem and I'll be darned, it sure did.I'm beginning to be a little odd in more ways than I care to acknowledge! LOL>> Mybipley, Try holding a small amount of liquid in your mouth, tilting your chin down to your chest and then try to swallow. Thi s technique is used by speech therapists and "maybe" will help, can't hurt right?> Hope this all works it self-out soon!
