I first looked at Dr. Kuri's web page and talked to a lady named Ishi and she told me all about Dr. kuri's surgeries too. I happened to stumble across Dr. A's web site and looked at all the information he had basically the same. Except the price was different and that Dr. A does all of his surgeries and Dr. Kuri does some but his associates mainly do them. I don't know but I think I would rather have the doctor that I am seeing do the surgery himself. I have been doing alot of research and reading and this is what I want to do. If I had the money now I would have done it yesterday figurtively speaking. I am still trying to muster up the funds. I saw my regular doctor yesterday and told him of my plans. He has heard of the Lap Band surgery but doesn't know to much about it. He kind of got bug eyed when I told him that it was in Mexico along with other family and friends have. If you want more information just keep reading and looking up the information and you will make the right choice. I am sold on Dr. A all the way. It has to be better than what I am doing now which is nothing with my weight. No matter what diet you have tried or pills you take you have to do it for the rest of your life. I do not plan on taking pills the rest of my life to keep the weight off. If I do that than the first time I couldn't get the Rx I would gain the weight back. I would rather have the surgery and live that way the rest of my life knowing that I have done the right thing for myself. Guest guest
- Hi ! I'm in Idaho - I hope we'll stay in touch! When I chose Dr. Aceves over Dr. Kuri's team - Dr. Aceves is a younger Dr. and I thought might be more up to date with newest methods....the second was a small savings in price - I believe the price difference is $700. Good luck with your choice...and I'll look forward to hearing how it goes! Guest guest
Hi , I am in western WA. Over in the Gig Harbor area. thank you for the info on Dr. A. He sounds like a wonderful Dr. I am really excited about this surgery. I think how I am going to make my final decision is based how soon they can get me in, and how thier offices treat me personally. Because it sounds like both Drs are so good. But I am so impatient about getting in as soon as I can!! I have waited for this for a long time. way to go on your loses!!! :-) take care, talk to you soon, Re: why did you choose Dr. Aceves over others? hi andrea! where in washington do you live? im in yakima, i made my choice for dr a because a friend went to him first and i promise you wont regret him they are so wonderful! i had my sugery on may 12th and have lost almost 30lbs i just had my second fill last wed, and now the band is finally working i have great restriction! if you choose dr a you wont regret it!! good luck! why did you choose Dr. Aceves over others? Guest guest
Terry, I hope you get the funds that you need soon. I totally understand your frustration with funding. I have been waiting for wieght loss surgery for years now, because I have been unable to come up with the money. But I think I am finally there! I was going to get the gastric bypass years ago, and my money fell through, but I think it was the hand of God, because I am so glad I did not get the bypass!! 3 of my family members have had it and most of the weight comes back because the pouch stretches out. and alot of others I know have gained alot of thier weight back. That is why I am doing the band. I know the weight loss is slower, but with the ability to adjust the band, you have more control overy your restriction and therfore I think the band has better long term results. slower weight loss is also so much healthier for your body too! :-) good luck and I hope you get your surgery soon!! take care, Re: why did you choose Dr. Aceves over others? >> HI all, I am finally almost to the point of scheduling my surgery. Guest guest
Hi, . I understand your decision process. When I started researching the band, Dr. Kuri is the first doctor I considered in Mexico. I spoke several times by phone with one of his patient coordinators who lives in the U.S. I wanted to meet a real person who had experienced his surgical expertise and discuss the procedure with them in person. It took them weeks to locate someone in Flroida (my state) that he had performed surgery on. They tried to hook us up via email and we corresponded one time. We also played phone tag for about a month or more and could never hook up. I'm sure he is a fine doctor. During my research, I lucked up on Dr. A's website and started monitoring this bandster page. Everyone was so positive about Dr. A. that I started researching into his services. I was also fortunate to personally meet with one of his patients in my town, Tampa, FL. We had a very nice visit and I found it so helpful to meet and speak personally with someone face-to-face who had experienced his services and someone that I could ask direct questions and receive honest answers. I also began speaking with Dr. A's staff via email and telephone. In addition, I found the other bandsters on this web site who had been treated by Dr.A. to be so helpful and experienced with suggestions and solutions. Naturally, money was also a consideration for my decision. Dr. A was less than Dr. Kuri. I also researched Dr. Rumbault in Mexico. However, his location is not easy to access via flight arrangements and that cost was also a deciding factor from my perspective due to needed fills. I believe that the one factor that led me to Dr. A. is that fact that I could email or telephone call his office and staff and immediately receive answers to my questions. In fact, if I called and asked for Nina and she wasn't available, I could get my question answered by another staffer. Further, when I emailed Nina, her response was in my mailbox within minutes or by morning if I emailed late at night. Their attention to detail and their responsiveness has impressed me more than anything else. I work in an environment where time is money. I value both my time and my money. In this instance, Dr. A's staff has treated me the same way that I like to treat my clients. I firmly believe that a physician's staff is a direct example of the care and attention that you can expect to receive both before and after surgery from the physician. This is an important decision and one that you need to be comfortable with. When I discussed my surgery consideration with my local physician, the response I received was, " Well, , the U.S. is not the only place in the world where good medicine is practiced. " I trust that you will do your research and make the approriate decision for your sistuation. I wish you the best and hope that in the future, your family and friends will be seeing " less " of you.
