Guest guest
I am a pre-op so I can answer that - I thought the pre-op board was for people who are... well.... pre-op and therefore unable to be contacts...that's what led me here.....it wasn't until much later someone told me about the mgb gallery where I could find tons of contacts. I am SO thankful for those of you who have been welcoming and offered to be contacts! Thanks so much!!!
Guest guest
I must agree with you Joanie. I barely post on the post op board either. Unless of course I read soemthing that pertains to a problem I have or a solution I have come up with. I remember being pre-op and being excited about being on the post op board, but, I find myself posting on the pre-op board more to help the newbies with their tasks. I think the best thing they have come up with is the MGBgallery that Flo and TJ put together! It makes it very simple to get your contacts there, plus it is full of other useful info and photos! So I usually send a contact letter privately and post publicly that pre-ops should go to the mgbgallery.com for contacts! I think we should all just try and remember where we all came from in the first place and try not to be to harsh with people who may have jumped the gun a little. After all, we dont want to scare them away with thinking that after you have the MGB you turn into a grumpy gus, or captain grumpy pants as I am known to call my husband! Guest guest
Why are there pre-ops on this board? Why should you care? I'm sorry to be a grump, too, but there are no deep dark secrets on either of these boards, pre-op or post-op. Read what you like and delete the rest. Take care and God bless. Bird@... POST-op board I'm sorry to be a grump, but WHY are there pre-ops on this board asking for contacts? It was my understanding that this board was for post-op people. There is a whole huge board for those who are pre-op, those seeking info and contacts.. Most of us on this board are here because we're interested in POST-op conversation and discussion. The place for pre-ops is on the pre-op board. Don't get me wrong, pre-ops--we'll be delighted to welcome you after your surgery! To whomever does the membership on these boards, please direct people to the right one! Guest guest
You know what, I agree. I am two years post op and read my email almost every night. I spend most of my time deleting emails that have no relevance for me at my stage in this. And again my pet peeve- re using subject lines that don't mean anything and people arranging coffee claches on this groups page. Personal stuff is just that- do it directly to the persons email. It shows up with their message use it. I'm not interested in the shopping and the cute stores in some town somewhere in the US. We are supposed to be using this site to help each other with MGB related questions. Let's keep to that. My son had MGB almost 10 months ago and doesn't check this mail because of the content. Guest guest
I think I'd rather not have it monitored, but if a list of post-ops is provided to the moderators, can't they tell if someone is wanting to join that hasn't had surgery yet? Or maybe when you ask to join you should have to give your surgery date? I don't think anybody is trying to be sneaky-- folks are just trying to get as much info as they can-- but I like the idea of the post-op board, that our comments here aren't broadcast to a broader, inexperienced audience. :-) Kathy in VA --------- Re: POST-op board You know what, I agree. Guest guest
I can see your point, but that is why the post-ops stay on the pre-op board so that they can assist the new comers through the first steps of this life changing journey. I believe that the 2 seperate boards were created so that people who have already been through the surgery have others that they can take their specific problems to. If the pre-ops are allowed to join the post-op board, then why have two seperate boards, why not just one that we all contribute to? (Utah) > > Where are the pre-ops going to get contacts? Guest guest
If the pre-ops do not ask us, then where will they get their contacts? I believe we should support all the pre-ops who ask us questions. They only want the counsel of our experience. Let's be kind to and supportive of them. Thanks for letting me have my say. Guest guest
I monitor the pre-op board as often as I can, and I've volunteered my name and email address for the MGB Gallery as a contact for anybody who asks.
