I have begun to drop back into the time-worn pattern of eating because I'm

bored and depressed regime again. Since my cancer surgery last month, I

have gained eight pounds and it's still going up. I had made it down to 193

and now this morning I weighed and I'm back up to 201 - I know it's because

of the foods I'm eating and the fact that I'm still pretty immobile - my

vaginal area is still sore enough that I can't exercise or walk normally. I

know it's because I've just been a big old couch potatoe for a month - the

importance of exercise can't be stressed enough!! I miss getting up and

walking normally. I especially depressed about the weight gain. I never

thought I would gain this much in this short of time. I guess anything is

possible. Of course, the cold, wet, drizzly, crappy weather isn't helping

my mood either this morning.

Sorry to vent, but had to get it out. Thanks for listening.

Hi Kellie,

I know how you feel because I flip out when I gain four or five pounds. I'd

like to share with you a system that has been foolproof for me in getting the

weight off quickly and has worked for several other people as well.

I immediately switch to a high protein diet. And I know this is strange, but

I had sliced roast beef, sliced tomatoes and baby carrots for breakfast the

last couple of days, was only reasonably careful the rest of the day and

dropped two pounds over the weekend. I find that if I cut out carbs at

breakfast it

seems to rev up my metabolism. Now I've never been a big " breakfast food "

person and really like having lunch or dinner type meals for breakfast, but this

has never failed to work for me.

You might give it a try. Hope it's helpful.

Doris

Kellie,

Hang in there girl. I know it must be disheartening to gain, but you will get

better, and everything will start working the way it is supposed to again.

Just surround yourself with the things you are supposed to eat. If you don't

feel like shopping, I am sure you can find someone to go get you some yummy

fruits and tasty veggies!!!! Hang in there girl!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! (putting

my pom pon's down now.)

Hi Kellie

I feel so bad that you are going thru this. I had uterine cancer last year and

had to have a complete hysterectomy. Following that I had radiation treatments

as well. I also gained weight. Feeling depressed over this is normal and to be

expected. However, all will go back to normal before long. From experience, I

found for myself, that getting something new to think about is not only

important but so is critical. Having the big " C " is a lot to cope with, and

downright frightening. But beyond that, you have had another surgery, and even

tho you may have gone thru it with flying colors, it is still a huge hit to the

body and emotions. It is time to pamper yourself a bit, and know that you will

feel better, and will undoubtedly lose more weight when you body readjusts its

self.

Take care and feel free to call

Hi Kellie!

I don't post often, but I have been reading your posts for quite

sometime and I consider you to be such a strong and motivated person.

Don't you dare let this temporary setback get you down because that is

what it is - temporary! You are going to be fine and those pounds will

start coming off again very soon. I am so glad your surgery went well

and that is a wonderful blessing. I will be praying for you to heel and

get back on track asap! By the way, I too live in Oklahoma and the

weather is driving me nuts! But at least OU is still undefeated! YEAH!

Take care and know that you can vent any time you need to as we are all

family here!

Thanks so much a! I've been really down lately - and today didn't help

- I woke up around 2:00am with horrible pain in my left groin area - cold

sweats, temp of 101, had to go to oncologist today - he drained 150cc of

fluid from that area - I " m still really sore and can hardly walk again. I " m

so ready for this to be over. Thanks so much for your supportive and kind

words. They definitely help!

Hi from Oklahoma and BOOMER SOONER! LOL

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. It is so difficult to remain

upbeat when you're sore and can hardly walk. My oncologist gave me a

prescription for xanex for the anxiety - I sleep really good when I take one

of those. Where in Oklahoma are you? We're almost littermates - mine was

on 12-19-03. I had lost 111 pounds prior to cancer surgery and I weighed

yesterday and I " m back up to 201. How much have you lost? Nice to meet a

fellow Okie.
