When are you going? I am scheduled for July 13th. I feel as you

do..scared and praying alot. I see how I eat now and I want a life

change, but nervous about the emotional part of it. I am nervous about

the fill thing also and wondering how that is going to work out, I have

heard some bad things about Dr.s in the US and patients from Mexico.

Hi ,

I felt the same way, scared, nervous and is this what I really

wanted.I went to Dr. Aceves by myself, I didnt let my fear take over,

if I had I wouldnt have done it, I was brave enough to say " Im going

to do this " for myself and my family. I didnt want to gain anymore

weight and the more you think about it your not going to do it. I did

my own research and I read Dr.A testimonals from other bandsters and

its amazing how they mentioned your life will change and I was

looking forward to that and all of the bandsters had nothing but good

things to say about Dr. Aceves and his team, so I took there word and

finally said Im going to do it. Well, when I went 06/07/07, sure

enough the testimonals are RIGHT!! Everything they said is true!

Thanks to all the previous bandsters giving us newbe's good advice

and making us feel everything is going to be okay. , you will be

fine and safe, its not what you think or what other people say about

Mexico doctors. Their hospital is better then the ones in the states,

they are not all white, they make you feel at home. Dont be afraid!!

Just remember surgery is the easy part, the hard part is changing

your eating habits and believe me its hard after, well for me!! Let

us know how you did!

Hi ,

I know exactly how you feel. I had all my family, except my husband, telling me there was a good chance I would kidnapped in Mexico etc etc. EVERYONE was against it. I felt the same way, why did God make me this way if I want so badly to be healthy and skinny, why didn't he make me that way then. Then I realized that was like saying, I shouldn't have had IVF to get my son. If God wanted me not to have a baby why did he make such wonderful technology that made it possible. If God wanted me FAT, why did he make such wonderful technology like the band??? Believe me, you will have the last laugh when your sister kicks herself for not doing what you did sooner! She will have the surgery but it will probably be in a year when you are at or close to goal and you will be giving her all your fat clothes and smiling the whole way there!!! :)

Dr. Aceves is ALL and MORE than what you read on this board. He is truly a gentleman and an out-of-this-world doctor, you will not be disappointed. There are lots of different opinions about having fills done locally. I think even those of us who haven't had problems in the states would still recommend to go back to Dr. Aceves for the fills!! It was too expensive for me and I wanted to know someone locally could take care of me in an emergency. We have one Dr. here that won't see people who had their band done in Mexico, there is one other Dr that will see those patients. His assistant is VERY inexperienced. I got him for the first fill and loved him, then I got her for the 2nd fill and was very bruised and had a lot of pain with it. That would have NEVER happened in Mexicali!!! You have to make that decision, but remember if you are researching fill Dr.'s be up front and tell them it will be

an Inamed band from a Dr. in Mexicali. You don't want any surprises after your band and you need a fill!

, I'm not sure yet I was going to pick a date today but I was

kinda freaking out this morning. My sister told me she would still fly

out with me so I will probally go sometime the same week you will be

there. I am ready to just get it over with. I still have to find a

doctor here for aftercare, I called Inamed today to find out if Dr.

Aceves was on their list of surgeons. That made me feel better:)

Everything is falling into place now so hopefully by this time next

month I'll be banded! Keep in touch

Thank-you sooooo much for your words of incourgement. I was letting my

mind go all the wrong places today. I do want to do this and I know it

is what I need to do for my health. With all the things going wrong in

my body now I know it is the right thing to do. I just have to controll

my thoughts and shut out the negitive stuff people keep saying to me.

, Congratulations on sticking with your decision. Your sister will soon be kicking herself in the butt that she chickened out. You will be passing your clothes down to her! Having doubts is natural. It is that fear of the unknown. Do you think God wants you to be fat? Of course not! He wants you to be healthy. If you did research and were luckly enough to find Dr. Aceves...you have found the best of the best. Remember, he is the dr. that does the complicated

cases that other dr.s won't do! Like mine! I was turned down by 2 other Mexico dr.s and my own health care - Kaiser wouldn't do it either. (they don't do lap-bands yet and would not do the g-by-pass on my because of the risk...I had a 66.9 BMI, history of blood clots in the lungs and on blood thinners). Have you researched the available dr's in OK? Have you found a dr with the experience that dr Aceves and his group has? Remember that this is a NEW surgery for dr's in the US.
