Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just wanted to share about my first fill experience...It went great! I found a Doctor (Dr. ) in Sheveport, LA to do my fills...He was wonderful, nice, caring and took the time to talk to me without bad mouthing my choice...He also laughed at several things I said...A 1st for a US doctor, for me anyhow...He didn't bad mouth Mexico at all, he did ask a couple of questons: How was my experience there; how was the hospital... I asked him if he'd had heard of Dr. Aceves and he said yes... So then he went to trying to locate my port and actually said, "since your so slim, it should be easy to find" (I loved hearing that). Well it was pretty easy but it's not lying flat so he thought we might have to go to the hospital and use fluoro...He even told the nuse when she walked in, "This may be diffucult". But he's good, he got the needle in and within no time found the port...I'm now filled with 1 c.c. my band will hold 4 c.c. I guess it's a guessing game the 1st few fills...He told me, If it isn't enough to call within 1 week and he'll add more free of charge... Now his fees: 1st visit is $350.00...He charged me $190.00 for the fill and will bill my insurance for the office visit of $160.00...I was only out the 190.00...I thought that was a good deal... I highly recommend him if anyone is close by and needs a fill doctor... Now I'm excited to begin using my tool to lose these unwanted pounds...40 pounds to go to be at goal... ******* , how are you doing since you had your 1st fill last weekend?******** *******Jennie C., I read where you got a fill, how are you doing?******* By the way welcome to all the new bandsters and the soon-to-be bandsters...You'll not regret it... Guest guest
Rena... Just a general question of " how does this work " regarding your fill. Isn't it kinda spooky to have someone digging around with a needle looking for your port? I'm not referring to pain or fear of needles but instead the idea that if they poke the tube between the port and your band it could ruin the lap band and surgery could be necessary. I was reading the book that comes with the lap band last night and it referred to that possibility. Being a newbie (and I'm sure I won't fear these issues when I'm an old timer) I'm a little nervous about the idea of anyone poking needles in there without xray and knowing exactly where they are poking. Thoughts? Anyone? > > > > Hi everyone, > > Just wanted to share about my first fill experience...It went great! Guest guest
Rena, I am doing great since my fill. I have lost 5 pounds since Saturday. I am still on liquids but plan of moving towards some mushies a little later today. I am taking it really slowly to move to the next stage just to make sure my body is ready. It is easy to do once you have had a fill simply because you don't deal with the hunger you have before a fill. Anyway, thanks for asking! Guest guest
Hi all, Is it normal to be able to totally feel your port? Mine is just under the skin right above the scar. I can feel the entire thing. I thought it was supposed to be stitched to some muscle and under some fat. ?? Thanks,Ally Re: Re: My first fill... Hello, I guess I may have used the wrong word "poking" he only poked me once but moved the needle around a few times until he was in the port...It wasn't a bad experience at all...It was a little uncomfortable but no worse than getting a shot in the arm...I was worried about him poking my band with the needle but he said he new what to feel for...Now, he put in 1 c.c. but that wasn't enough so I went back yesterday and he add another 1/2 c.c. and this time he went straingt in and to the port...Not once did he move the needle around...I can tell a difference so hopefully this is a good fill...I'm real happy with him, he's very nice and patient and talkative... You don't find those qualities in many doctors here in the US...I highly recommend him... Renajane moss <mom_jane_moss> wrote: Rena, I was just feeling exactly the same. Guest guest
Ally, Some patients can feel the port but it is under the fat and stitched over the muscle. You might only be feeling the scar tissue that forms under your incisions, it can get hard as a rock. Post are usually about 2 inches from the scar...most patients are surprised when they get the first fill and actually know were the port is versus where they thought it was. Guest guest
That's what I thought you might be feeling. That is scar tissue. I had my surgery 12/6 and it is just now starting to get smaller. It will shrink, give it time. Does it almost feel like a thimble is in there? That's scar tissue. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > Just wanted to share about my first fill experience.. .It went > > great! Guest guest
Nina can u tell the office that this is my email as they called and wantted to send a e-card maybe they have it down wrong. thanks so much happy holidays Re: Re: My first fill...
