Guest guest
You really shouldn't BE taking big bites. If you do you might want to either spit it out or if you can, swallow it tiny bits at a time. No, drinking one sip defeats the purpose of a band. Sorrry. ( Keep in mind, your stomach is teeny tiny now. One sip of water is quite a bit in relation to stomach size. I like really spicyfoods, so I always want a drink of water after having that spice in mymouth. Is " one drink " ok, just to rinse it out of my mouth or is that a no-no too?Any help would be appreciated.Cyrena WeeksDOB: 1/19/07(240) 230/210/140www.mylapbandjourne y.com
Guest guest
Cyrena, you don't want to drink water if you take a big bite, it just will help the process in bringing that food back up. You never want to take big bites, always small bites and chew chew chew. I was just like you. I had to drink after each bite until I got my band. I learned after a few times that water and food with the band just don't mix. You will be head first over the kitchen sink if you do. Believe me I have experience in that area.LOL God Bless, M. Guest guest
Cyrena: I know we are educated to not drink with our meals, I serve myself a glass of water with each meal. I do NOT drink it all; however, I do--on occasion--take a small sip or two during my meals. I don't drink much; but depending on what I am eating, I will sip a few times because of dryness or spiciness. I feel the need when the meat is a little dry or I feel rather dry or thirsty as I eat. You will learn as you progress with your band what you need to do for you. This sipping issue is very different from having a full beverage during your meal--that is a No-No, but sipping is a little gray area of banding rules, in my opinion. Some nights I don't sip my drink at all, and some nights I do. Just know your body, experiment and follow the band rules as closely as you can so that it works best for you. The rules are provided to us for a reason. Follow them as closely as you possibly can. Best of Luck! Guest guest
I dont drink during meals. Only because I tried once and pb'd the whole thing like a volcano ...Not pretty. Thankfully I made it to the bathroom. If you drink it really wash the food down quickly. I always wait at least 1 hour to 1.5 till I drink.. Guest guest
Hi Cyrena, If you eat too big of a bite and it gets stuck, drinking will just make it hurt worse! Small bites and chew, chew chew is the only answer! Thanks,Ally Does water help get food down? Guest guest
Cyrena, Drinking with your meals is not going to cause damage. This is, however, an important behavior modification we need to make to help us be successful with the band. When people ask me how I have lost so much weight this year with my band, not drinking water or liquid with my meals is one of the first things I tell them. So, you can make the conscious decision whether or not you want to use your band to the fullest extent possible and lose your weight faster or if that sip of water is more important. Guest guest
I think as long as it is at least 15 minutes b/4 your meal, you'll be good. Thanks,Ally Re: Does water help get food down? Guest guest
for me i cannot drink and eat at the same time if i do - i immediately throw up - you would think it would work like a funnel and help swish the food down the band but for me the liquid piles on top of the food and has no where to go but up. capriseJ Currie <giftedtch@...> wrote: Cyrena, Drinking with your meals is not going to cause damage.
