Congratulations -- I too can hardly wait to get below the " 200 " mark

and into 14/16's. I am only 3 months out but hope to have a nice loss like

you at 6 months. Take Care -- Jeannine from KC

Hi All,

Just a note to let everyone know my 6 month bandiversary was

yesterday. I have lost 46 lbs. (not quite my goal of 50 in 6 months

but close). I have had 2 fills which equal 1.5 cc and I think I

need another one (fill appointment is April 21). I have lost a lot

of inches but don't know how to figure it. Anywho, I can fit in a

size 12 stretch jeans (down from size 20-22) and I have had to buy

new smaller sized bras and panties! (sorry, guys!) I have a lot more

energy and most of my aches and pains are gone! I have not taken

any pain meds including liquid Tylanol since the day I left Almater

Hospital.

I want everyone to know that I don't regret having the lapband

surgery even for a minute! AND I am 66 years old! I love my band

and can NEVER thank Dr. Aceves and his staff enough for changing my

life. I also want to thank ALL of you on this message board for

your words of encouragement and caring support for people you don't

even know. What a great group you are! I am soooo looking forward

to meeting many of you this summer at our reunion!

Penny. Are you getting your fill at Almater? I'm arriving on 21st. I'd love to meet you. You've been very helpful to me, sometimes directly and sometimes just by reading what you've written to others. I'm a little younger than you, but one of the oldsters of the group none-the-less. I've worried about being "up there" in years - saggier skin (less elasticity), boobs hanging low...wer than before, and especially, losing the fat in my face - the only thing keeping the wrinkles smoothed out!!! But, just by connecting with all of you, by making my decision to do this, and starting the low carb preop diet, I don't think I need antidepressants any more!! Guess I'll keep taking them until after I finish the liquid phases - THAT must be depressing!! LOL Phyllis (PD)

Thanks, Tammy,

For heartburn I take tums, Gelusil, or Gaviscon (a

liquid Dr. A recommended for acid reflux I think but

it worked for heartburn for me).

Thanks, Penny. Sorry we won't cross paths in Mexicali. I am trying to stay healthy. I turn and walk the other way if anyone at work sniffles or sneezes. I'm being prudent about my vitamins and getting sleep. I'm wondering if anyone who has had surgery started out with a "questionable" gall bladder. I know the rapid wt. loss can be hard on the GB and many women on rapid-wt-loss diets have GB attacks due to stones. I suspect I already have stones

and hope surgery isn't contraindicated because of it. I'm willing to do the surgery first and take the chance I may need GB surgery later. At least I won't be so fat when I have to have it done! Someone please let me know if you have any experience or knowledge about "rocky gallbladders". Thanks. Phyllis

Re: 6 month update

Hi Phyllis,I wish I could go to Almater for the fill but it isfar, far away! I go to a fill Dr. in sbluffNebraska near where my son has a farm so I get tovisit my family and our new baby calves. This Dr. isvery good and takes the time to chat with you andlisten to any problems you are having with the band.I would love to meet you, also, maybe at thereunion??? I hope a lot of us can get together then. It will be such fun! By the way, I was only depressedfor about 1/2 day during those first weeks and thatwas more because I was afraid I was dehydrating thananything else! Really, the whole experience was moreuplifting than depressing, but then I didn't have theterrible hunger some do.Your time is fast approaching--stay healthy!PennyPenny ManvilleWalden, ColoradoDOB 9/26/05230/184/1351st fill 12/9/05 1cc2nd fill 1/27/06 0.5 cc 1.5 cc total5'4"__________________________________________________

Hi All, I had gall stones and they were extremely painful!! This is right up there with being in Labor!!! That is the only way I can describe this pain. I was rushed to emergency and I was told it was indigestion. I said no way!!! So they took xrays and I had gall stones and was sent to surgery. So I no longer have gall stones or a gall bladder and they did tell me it has everything to do with my eating habits. I also had kidney stones. I guess I am the lucky one to of had both!!! Thank you Ginger,

I appreciate your encouragement! Good luck to you on

your journey. You will find that the time will drag

and then fly by and soon you will be here on the

losing side! It's normal to be a little scared but

you will feel reassured when you meet Dr. Aceves and

his team. Also you will be arriving on the day when a

lot of people are getting their fills and will get to

meet some of the people who are on this message board!

That should be neat and they can reassure you too!

Best wishes!

Penny

I have been reading research articles in the hospital library where I work and there was no mention of any gallbladder problems post surgery related to the surgery or diet. This all sounds wonderful. You are an inspiration to many people who are sitting there thinking how overwhelming it can be to have to lose a lot of weight. You are proof that it can be done. I am glad to see that you are doing some kind of exercise and that your eating healthy. These are all the things that we all need to do. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. Before you know it people will not recognize you at all!
