Guest guest
Hi , Lee is right, it's a silver box that holds the processor AND A DRYING CAPSULE as well. You will get a supply of the drying capsules when you get your 3G. You put one in and if you store the processor in the splash box, you need to change the drying capsule when it changes color. Or every couple of months. But you will also get the Dry & Store with your implant, so you might not need to use the splash box unless you travel. It will be like Christmas when you get your 3G. So many things come with it. In addition to a box of 300 batteries, you get all the cords you need for TV, radio, walkman, phone (if you want to patch right into it), extra cord for the head piece, covers for the batteries, a neat carrying case, drying capsules, a wand that lights up when you're near the processor to show it's working, and who knows what else. And one GREAT thing about the Nucleus is you get all these FREE with the 3G. And Cochlear Corp manufactures all the accessories themselves. You will get 2 cords for the head piece. You might consider returning'/exchanging one for a long one. I returned one of the short ones and got an 11 inch cord that allows me to move the processor to the non implanted side and hear conversations when I'm driving. I'm implanted on the left, so when I have a passenger, I use the cord to move the processor to the right. As long as the original equipment hasn't been opened, it is returnable or exchangeable. Thanks for not telling that we've ALL been talking about him - off the forum! Whew, our secrets are safe. Nucleus Volunteer lisak70@... writes: What is a splashbox? Is this the container that holds the 3G and its accessories? no, it just hold the 3G for drying. it looks like a soapbar holder. it is the size of your hand, very handy for traveling, especially if you are going where there are no such thing as ELECTRICITY. Guest guest
, Wow! When I get my kit for the 3G, I'm going to be as excited a 5 year old kid on Christmas Eve! I can't wait! By the way, it won't be very long now before I receive the big news regarding my insurance approval!! Guest guest
, When I got my kits, I stuck them under the bed for a long, long time. I wasn't at all happy with the CI or the way it sounded. My husband's voice was a nightmare. It was a lot of work to relearn how to hear. I think you need to remember the 3P, patience, practice and prayer. It will all come together, you just need to give it a little time Dee. _____ From: Kozlik [mailto:lisak70@...] Sent: Tuesday, November 02, 2004 2:29 PM Subject: Re: Splash box , Wow! It will all come together, you just need to give it a little time<< Thanks, Dee! This is great advice and something I will definitely keep in mind once I have my CI. If I'm only able to hear the sound of traffic with my CI, I'll consider it a success because as of now, I can't do that. I know there's plenty of work ahead of me, but I have a feeling that things are only going to get better!! Guest guest
, I did feel like I got a big Christmas gift with all the neat stuff I got with my CI. It was all in a BIG box and I all but programed the processor (o; while I waited the 3 weeks before hook-up. It hasn't been 4 months since I was turned on. I just had a tune up yesterday and I am beginning to feel like a normal hearing person. The hearing is great and almost normal sounding. I still have some problems understanding all speech, but am doing better on the phone than I expected. It's a pain to have to wait just to find out for approval, but hang in there. Good things are worth waiting for. May -- In , " Kozlik " <lisak70@t...> wrote: > , > > Wow! When I get my kit for the 3G, I'm going to be as excited a 5 year old > kid on Christmas Eve! Guest guest
Lee, Yes, that's right. The splash box does not plug in. I don't have my Dry and Store yet (plug in) so I'm using the splash box for now. Sorry for the confusion! Guest guest
, I'm not , but the dessicant will turn from the creamier color to a more yellowish color.. That's the sign that it needs to be changed. I get a god two months or so on one capsule.. just depends on how humid of area you are in. Guest guest
, Does Cochlear still carry the plastic tube you mentioned? Sounds like something I'd like to try using. Right now I'm storing (what equipment I have - LOL!) in a waterproof plastic Pelican case. Two things I really like about the Pelican case are its sturdiness and the fact that you can cut the inside foam to any shape so that it holds all of your equipment securely.
