noise in ear post surgery?

My surgery is scheduled for Sept 2010. It's clear that the surgery will/may not restore hearing, objective is to remove the growth - but the one thing I forgot to ask is will the 'swoosh, swoosh' sound in the ear go away with removal of the growth? Have any of you experienced this?
