and of course this was without lipreading? 38% is very good actually. I had

0% :-(( I wonder why they don't test lip/speech reading ability?

They do! I was given lipreading tests with and without hearing aid as part

of CI eval. Scored almost 100% with hearing aid, and about 40% without hearing

aid. However, without lipreading, got lucky with 3% by " sheer luck "

otherwise it would had been 0%. Now with my CI, last test, discriminations were

35 to

43% (depends on which tests, there's 3 of them)

I don't know di. that is better then what I did. First test I got

4%. When I had to see a different surgeon due to insurance and got another

test it was more like between 1 and 0%. 38% is pretty high compared to me. :)

Yeah! With HA I only got 38% word recognition...was better than

yours but it's still not good enough for daily or for everything

else. Recently I was tested and received 0% of word recognition. So

that's a flat zero! Worse than last time I took the test.

My friend had a 90% word recognition and she was still qualified for

CI due to her enlarged vestibular aquaduet.

I guess everyone's cases is different and yet are still qualified for

CI.
