Guest guest
HI !! I went to a local dermatologist and had my upper lip and neck area zapped by their laser. OUCH!!! Neck, chin wasn't too bad but the upper lip was awful!! They used a Light sheer diode Laser machine and the girl there had been doing this for years. I will not be going back unless they can do something to numb upper lip of something anything!! I have to say thought after one treatment I have seen very little upper hair so this must work. BUT it just turned me off so bad, laser tip was wet then they zap you with electric, you can smell the burning hair super yuck. Just wanted to thank you LINDA for all your great info! Can you do me a favor when you get a chance and ask your people if the upper lip should hurt that badly? And is there anything I can get or do to numb it before a treatment. They told me for the upper lip it will need at least 5 treatments to 12. I did all I could to stand the one treatment!!! It doesn't work on blond or gray hair, just dark to black hair and I have the black hair so I was lucky in that way also I have very light colored skin so I am a perfect laser candidate. Oh well I will keep you posted and thanks once again! you can email me directly if you like at Genie7368@... Have a great day!! ne 1/5/04 Dr Rutledge 310/
Guest guest
ne, They can and should be giving you something to numb your upper lip!!! They did this with me automatically!!! I worry that they don't have the expertise or experience if they didn't tell you about it or give you something for it. It is a cream you put on 1-2 hours before your appointment. I think it is called an emla cream ... with or without tegaderm? Ask them about it. They should know and if they don't I would NOT go back there! Geez ne how ever did you stand it??? It's a little zingy even WITH the numbing cream! It had to be torture without it! I've had my neck, chin, upper lip, eyebrows, and legs done but the upper lip is the worst! You sure didn't waste anytime getting it done! In case they didn't tell you this too ... you be REAL careful with the sun for the next few months! Heavy sunscreen and if possible stay out of the sun as much as you can and go for the shade every chance you get. Maybe even a big floppy hat? Guest guest
Yes, the lip always hurts a lot. Try getting your underarms done! There is a product called Emla (sp?) that they can use to numb an area before doing a laser procedure. You need a Rx to get it, but most places can call it in for you as they have a doctor on staff. I've done legs and underarms and although it was painful, I am very happy with the results. Good luck.
Guest guest
Hi , I am a person that once I want something I go after it full speed ahead!! Once in a great while it does get me into trouble, but this is me! They did give me some paperwork to read the first time I went into office and I cant find it now but they do have a ointment I can buy that is suppose to numb it. (so I could have avoided all that extra pain my own fault) I am kinda in a hurry right now but when I locate that paperwork I will let you know what medicine it says to use. You would have also thought the Laser operator when she seen me in that much pain would have asked if I used that ointment. She didnt mention it, hey maybe she is sadistic. hahahahahaha. I will try it once more with that numbing medicine. Yes they mentioned not to tan or go in the sun before treatments. Oh so far my upper lip has very little hair growth on it since that one treatment. That is good and I will try this once more and let you know what happens. I got an email from knellius@... but she didnt leave her name she also had treatments and gave the same name for the medicine as EMLA. Thanks to her also if she is reading this. Thanks for everything! ne In a message dated 6/6/2004 12:26:08 PM Eastern Standard Time, ladyamom@... writes: > ne, > > They can and should be giving you something to > numb your upper lip!!! > They did this with me automatically!!!
