Guest guest
I have not posted for quite a few months but do read a lot of the posts. I am two years out and able to eat just about anything I want in moderation. This did not come all at once and a few things seemed to take forever until I could tolerate them. Rice and noodles of any kind were two of the slowest to come back. (Also hamburgers even though I could tolerate beef early on). Rice seems to be a problem for most post ops. Quite a few have just eliminated it from their diet. I have never been a rice fan so I eat very little of it. Sometimes a bite or two at a Chinese restaurant - and I mean just one or two bites. I do a little better with spaghetti but not much. I usually avoid these foods. I disagree with the post that says your tastes do not change after surgery. Mine certainly did and so did a bunch of other people I know. I never liked spinach until after surgery, now I enjoy it a lot. I used to love chicken, now its OK but no where near what it used to be. It took quite a while before my body would tolerate chicken. I could eat pork and beef long before I could eat chicken. (By tolerate I mean not barfing it up right after taking one or two bites.) These are just two examples, I won't bore you with any others. Remember everyone is different. Listen to your body. You will get most of the foods back. Be patient. Don't try to rush the process, your body will rebel. Also anything I had to give up is not worth the 115 pounds I've lost! I'd make the trade again today!
