Guest guest
Hey all, I have a person who just does not understand my posting on my blog about the 'm' word. He doesn't understand why we little people think it's offensive. It is like talking to a brick wall to this person and I should give up. Part of the reason for my blog is to get people to understand our life a little better. To make my daughter's life a little easier too! Can you give me a better reason than the word hurts just like the 'n' word? Theguy just does not get it and I don't know how else to present this arguement. I told him also that the word isn't even correct medical terminology. That still did not work! HELP! DJD www.thejerseyshort.com
Guest guest
Hi Donna,  Honestly, people like that it's pointless and when I was faced with that last week, I could see I would not get anywhere so I moved on.  What I don't understand is average height people getting mad or not understanding when LP's hate the term midget. Honestly average height people have no bearing on our feelings or what we feel is offensive nor should they impose their personal opinions on a group of people they are clueless about (excluding family members and friends of LP's) Why should they get mad, why do they even care? Did they lose their laughing scape goats when people with a dwarfism stand up for themselves and others? It would be like any other disability group saying they have a term they find offensive if you refer them as that, who am I, as a person outside of that disability group, to put my opinion on them my belief on that term. I would instead just write that term off in my head as something not to refer to them as, end of story.  That guy I had an issue with got mad that I appeared offended because he used the term midget. I told him I was a big girl and in reality it only made him look bad. Who was he to even get mad?  I then ended the conversation saying the worst thing about having a dwarfism is not the height or the medical issues, it's other people's ignorance.  -   From: Donna <ddicorcia@...> Subject: Got a question... dwarfism Date: Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 12:04 AM  Hey all, I have a person who just does not understand my posting on my blog about the 'm' word.
