I Just got a call from Kaiser. They have the NUCLEUS 24 CONTOUR, but not

the soft tip. I have less than 2 1/2 hours to decide. If I insist on soft tip,

I'll have to wait one or two months, otherwise my surgery on Oct. 28th is OK.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW , & TO HELP ME DECIDE. MANY THANKS, Moses

Moses - this is fine. The one you will be getting is the curved array. Don't

worry about the soft tip. Go for it !!!

Just wondering, why would one say " soft tip " -- in what kind of

cochlea do they use a soft tip electrode in anyway?

The soft tip is a change in the current curved array for the Nucleus 24C. It's

not created for a special cochlea. It's believed to be a little more gentle on

the cochlea than the previous array which is more gentle than the one that

preceeded it. The soft tip is available now in some centers and will be

available in others as time goes on. I tried to get information off the

Cochlear site about it but it's not even noted there.

Moses - you will be fine with the Nucleus 24C which is what you are getting.

Before surgery I'll ok. After surgery is best answered by the doctor. Haircuts

are given free in the hospital <grin> but I think it's a good idea to get your

haircut now - personal opinion mind you. It will probably be a couple of weeks

before you want to go for the next one.

Yikes - your surgery is Thursday. Getting close, Moses. How do you feel?
