I would like to know about this too. I have a very deviated septum, sinuses don't drain right, fluid build up in sinuses, can't even breath out of my right nostril--the left one has some breathing function, sometimes.I often wondered if fixing this would help the development of the ctoma. But before I start having surgeries on yet ANOTHER location of my head, I'd like to hear from anyone who has had it done. Is sinus surgery worth going through? Will I be less likely to continually develop recurring ctoma?I'm so sick of these surgeries and worry that I'm going to have to keep doing this every 2-3 years for the rest of my life. Thanks!

Ingrid, I have my appt with my new ear surgeon in a couple weeks and my first

question to him is going to be should I do the sinus surgery-will it really help

the cholesteatoma?

If it could help I'll do it, if he says it probably won't make a difference, I'm

not putting myself through another surgery.

I'll let you know what he says. And hopefully someone on the mssg board will

write to us!

Next Friday I go for sinus surgery to improve the eustacian tube drainage, open

my sinus, and remove regrown adnoids. He is hoping if this doesn't solve the

reason for the ctoma, at least it will stop my recurring sinus infections.

During this time he will suction out the ear canal tumor. He is hoping this

will help in the future.

I would be very interested in seeing how this works for you as I suffer from disfunctional U-tube on one side which created my first, and hopefully only, c-toma. During the winter time is when my sinuses have issues like yours.
