I have heard that the phosphoric acid does a number on calcium and

magnesium, and that it takes a whole bunch of glasses of alkaline water

(like 30?) to neutralize the acid in a soft drink. Don't know how much

of that is true. J.

,

Yes, it is true that one average soda pop is so acid it takes

20-30 glasses of neutral water to balance the Ph. But, it doesn't

take that much alkaline water to do so.

If J. Fox is/was addicted to diet softdrinks, then I have

to wonder about the aspartate & glutamate from nutrasweet,

because they are neurotransmitters, needing no chemical change to

act as such. Could this have played a role in his Parkinsonism? I

would imagine so!

aspartame also has l-phenylalanine precursor to (Dopamine and

Norephinenprine) and meOH, methanol. The latter is more damaging than the

first. You do need at least adequate precursors to build neurortransmitters.

Methanol along with the mercury in amalgams is enough to casue this and

other problems like MS, ALS, etc.

I know there are people who drink soft drinks but Dr. Aceves basically tells you not to do this. I figure if I trust him to do my surgery, I will follow his rules. BUT, that is just me...others may think differently. It is my understanding that the effervescence in carbonation can potentially cause problems with your band. I don't know about you but I don't have the money to pay for a new band so I'm gonna take care of the one I have! Perhaps Nina can give us a quick reminder of what the "rule" about carbonated beverages is. Dr. A says no pop but my fill dr said after 6 months you can have

pop. But they also said to let it go flat first- what is the point?

LOL. I have chosen not to drink pop b/c it is addicting to me and I

was drinking 7-8 cans a day and I feel better drinking the water. It

has been 7 months since I have had a drop of pop. Sometimes when we

go out to eat and I see my husband with his big cup of Coke and

crushed ice I want it but other then that I dont even think about it.
